I'm sorry if this was already covered. If so, please delete.

Forbes had an excellent and balanced article on the myths behind gun control...

"As much as gun control advocates might wish otherwise, their attacks are running out of ammo. With private firearm ownership at an all-time high and violent crime rates plunging, none of the scary scenarios they advanced have materialized."

Good article....

And More advertising for Bersa than they pay for in a year with Forbes' choice of photo :D

Darn it, if more people see them, more people will buy them up, and the price will rise!!!!

And Brady just yelled "Haaax!" Take note, foreign nations, having a large population of lawful gun owners trusted to do the right thing, armed at their own volition, and allowed to access a broad range of guns, will benefit you. The only people who ought to fear an armed populace are tyrants and enemies to the civil.

I always like it when a news source gets an unbiased report out on firearms ownership/use. It is also good that we as a country are reversing the trend of more control in regard to firearms as of late. I think that the majority of the population in the US sees that simply enforcing the existing laws will work better than trying to add some more meaningless ones in the future. Some of the loudest naysayers really should take note and get with the program rather than get dragged in to the mud kicking and screaming worthless babble.

Good article and very objective. It would be interesting to know how many of firearms purchased are/were to first time women owners.

A short story about an unreported incident that's inline with the article. Some time back I was talking with a middle aged women who worked the late shift as a waitress at a truck stop restaurant. One night at about 3:00 AM there was pounding on her front door and the person was also working the door knob to no avail. Keep in mind the potential assailant had to open a closed gate to enter posted property, so, when the door opened the trespasser was greeted with a S&W 357mag in his face.

He beat a hasty retreat to a car that had its engine running with another person behind the wheel and they sped off into the darkness.

Given the numbers presented in the article, a growing number of Americans are refusing to become victims, and that's a good thing. Fortunately I live in a county where the sheriff is pro gun and pro NRA. :)

Same here. Thank God for that, right?
