Hey guys,

Trying to find a shell carrier like this one.

This is from Magpul's 'Art of the Dynamic Shotgun', it's on a Remington 1100.

Now, I've managed to find this. http://www.triangleshootingsports.com/otto.htm

But that's an elastic shell carrier. I would like one that is solid, like the one Travis has there. Does anyone know who makes these?

My understanding is that is a one off modification Travis made. I think its a blade tech (at least that's what it looks like) that he attached. I'm not sure what the method he used to attach it is. If someone knows I'd love to hear it. I would like to do something similar. I may just get a 3 gun gear elastic one though.

I am going to bump this to the top, so more folks see it. Having aged out of my agency's rather rigorous patrol rifle qual, thanks to a bum knee, I am back to seeing the shotgun as my primary long gun 24/7, because my chief expects me to only use weapons with which I have qual'ed for defensive purposes on or off the clock. Being a lefty with long guns, placing some slugs or shotshells on the right side of the weapon makes sense, and positioning them on the forearm near the ejection port optimizes things further.

I found that Sidearmor makes a two-shotshell carrier that will mount to a rail, for those whose shotgun fore ends have rails, or with Picatinney rails positioned elsewhere on the guns.

I believe that Safariland makes shell carriers like that.

I've been using one of the fabric ones for awhile, and it works well, though I did end up sticking a home-made spacer underneath it to angle the shells out to make them easier to grab.

Thanks. However, all four or more of my Safariland belt-mount shell holders have cracked within a disappointingly short time. (I am not sure how many I have bought over time.) Though made specifically able to accommodate duty- width belts, they just do not last long on a duty belt. It is embarrassing when the thing, with two shells in it, crashes to the floor, with people around. Three-gun shooters, the probable target market, probably wear thinner belts with less width, putting less strain on the belt clip.

The Blade-tech item, with Tek-lok mount, looks promising, though bulkier than the Safariland item.

If Safariland makes a shell carrier that attaches to the weapon, I have yet to find it on their site.

I have a rail forend on my Mossberg 500, and I put an EMA Tactical rail mounted shell holder on the right side.

Now, when this thing arrived, it looked like such cheap, roughly molded plastic, that I was sure the darned thing would break right off the forend from just PUMPING it too hard, let alone under recoil.

But... it hasn't, and it still works. Had to take it, and the other shell holders off for a while since the gun ended up too heavy for my significant other to operate with all the shells on, but I'm slowly getting them back on.
