I've seen people post "my form 4 is pending/approved, etc". So i'm assuming there is a way to check. How do you gp about checking the status of your form 4? Thanks, Justin

You can call the NFA branch of the BATF in West Virginia and they will give you the status of where your Form 4 is in the system.

In addition, you need to have the serial # of the item you have pending. They have no other way to track your status.

Yea it's my first, so therefore forgetting about it is out of the question! I just sent off 2, a mg and suppressor. The anticipation is killing me!

By the way, the phone number is (304) 616-4500. Be sure to have the serial number handy. They will also ask you to verify some info from the form, such as your name, address, and the name of the transferror. This is because the Form 4 is a tax return, and as such, is protected by confidentiality laws.

leave well enough alone... The examiners spend a great deal of time taking calls from folks like us who want to "check the status". I suggest you give them their "mean transfer time" first. If you aren't aware what the mean trasfer time is, check with your C3. If he's up in the air, go to a decent C3 friendly board - subguns.com, Uzitalk.net, Sturmgewehr.com, etc.
They'll gladly help. IIRC, the current mean transfer time from receipt is 4 weeks or under. The WV examiners do a bang up job, way better than when it was in DC 3-9 MONTHS was not uncommon.

Yea i'm having to go the trust route. I heard using a trust is usually faster then transfer to individual. I can't wait.
