8 weeks ago I submitted my first Form 4 - via trust.

I got home about 2 weeks ago to find a check from the Treasury in my mailbox for a form 4 refund. I got the check the same day my FFL got a letter stating the forms were missing a transferor signature. I called the NFA Branch, they said it was rejected without cause, was a critical error, I had to start all over.

I immediately sent in new forms with a check. Was deposited 10/30, called 11/2 to ask about status, got some snippy answer about 6 weeks for pending.

Called again 11/6 and was told it went pending 10/29.

Does this sound like they put me back in line?

A little concerned about another long wait...

When I submit a form 4, I don't even mark it on my calendar. I would guess they started over, but even if they didn't, it takes forever.

One way or another, my first rejection only took a few weeks.

If I went to the back of the line, maybe it will be that fast again.

Did you make sure that your FFL actually signed the form this time? (How does a Class 3 SOT FFL forget to sign the Form 4?)

Aaron

You used to get pushed to the front of the line if you screwed things up. They stopped doing that a few years ago. Now you just get the check in the mail. Luckily it only took them 8 weeks to figure it out.

I had a correction letter recently. (Last year) I didn't receive a check and I did keep my place in line.

My buddy just waited 17-1/2 weeks on a Form 1 efile only to be rejected because he selected the wrong drop down on the model of the firearm (his was a Sig516 and he just selected 516 when he saw it, which there is no such model so why even have it on the list?). They said there was nothing he could do and would have to start the process over.

Sucks.

When they reject an application and refund the fee, that is it. A re-submittal is a new application. Keeping track of rejects and current status would be more work and only delay processing for everyone else's application.

sorry to hear that. any particular reason you didn't get the transferror to sign it?

My guess is that the transferror handled the form, which is what the ATF actually expects on a Form 4. That's not always (or even often) how it works, but that's probably what happened here. If the FFL is gonna handle the paperwork, though, they should be careful to do it right.

Yep, the FFL handled the paperwork. Was disappointing because the dealer is very reputable, widely known.

Was a fluke deal. Hopefully there's another fluke and I get approved really quickly.

I have been told when they refund you that is a start on square 1 move. I had an error on my form once, they mailed me the form with a letter telling me what to fix, I did, mailed it back and got my stamp in about two weeks.

Sucks that your "investigator" didn't give you that opportunity. Did you E-Form? I have been told there is no changing or updating an E-Form.

Nope, was a paper Form 4 via Trust. NFATracker makes it look like trusts are working real slow while individuals are flying through. Some showing under 30 days.

I must have been lucky when I eForm 1'd my Uzi SBR. It was rejected because I'm not a known manufacturer with a known model. They wanted a diagram and specs on the Uzi. Talked to the examiner on the phone and asked if photos of the Uzi (Title 1 at the time) would work. She said yes, so I resubmitted it with the photos and description and sent her the document number. Had it approved in a week.

With paper forms you do not loose your place in line for a correction but E-forms have to be perfect.

Also, paper examiners are assigned by state but E-form examiners seem to be rotated every 2 weeks or so for load sharing.
