I want to do some neck turning on my 30-06 brass and have a Forster case trimmer. The dedicated trimmers run $100 or so but the Forster accessory is about $40 at Brownells. My question is - does this accessory provide the tolerances that dedicated neck turners are expected to give? The pilot on the forster is much shorter than the dedicated ones and I want to get precise results.

They do pretty well. the fit of the neck to the mandrel is paramount for precise repeatable results. The dedicated neck turners like those from K&M or Sinclair (And I am sure others) are better. I used a K&M for 6PPC. I used a Forster on my Forster trimmer for .222 Mag, and it shot very very well.

How precise do you need? What set up do you have.

I tried a couple of types of neck turners as well and like Forsters the best. I would think the Forster would be precise enough.
