Today I saw some Fort Scott 223 ammunition advertised as ‘solid copper’. I opened up the box to look. The bullet seating depths were all over the place. One round had been pushed into the case at least 1/4”. I showed the young girl working and told her she should take it off the shelf as this could be potentially dangerous. I briefly explained why but I could tell it went right over her head. It’s likely that as soon as I left, the box went right back on the shelf and the rest of the lot never got checked.
Be careful out there.

How sure are you about the law? I see plenty of solid copper for sale in pistol calibers

@Barbaroja , you’re right. Edited to remove reference to the legality of the copper bullet. The point was the setback.

The GCA defines “armor piercing ammunition” as:
“(i) a projectile or projectile core which may be used in a handgun and which is constructed entirely (excluding the presence of traces of other substances) from one or a combination of tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium copper, or depleted uranium; or
(ii) a full jacketed projectile larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun and whose jacket has a weight of more than 25 percent of the total weight of the projectile
.”
