There is a small Walmart in Ogallala, Ne that doesn't carry as much shooting stuff as fishing supplies.
Stopped tonight and there was one box of shotshells on the shelf. HI Brass 16 gauge, Remington Express XLR #6 shot. Bought them, they were $15.++ which isn't a bad price for 16s around here.
I remember when Dad hollered that 12 gauge HI brass went to $3.00 a box...That's been 70 some years ago.

I do have an old Remington 870 in 16 gauge. I had the choke opened up to .010 constriction and I like this shotgun a lot.

When things settle down I need to find some 16 gauge shot shells. I recently inherited a Remington Model 11 from an uncle and while during our gun shop years I bought and sold plenty of shotguns I never actually kept one for myself. The gun came with one box of ammunition and I may get the bug to try and hit some clay with it. :)

Saw Federal 12 ga. "Top Gun" target loads with # 7.5 shot in the local Runnings, home, farm & outdoor store yesterday for $8.99 per box. Haven't seen anything like shotgun shells there in a long time. My club did a high volume purchase of shotgun target loads, ( a whole truck load, I believe) and are selling them to members for a decent price while still raising money for the club. Tomorrow I'm getting a flat of 12 ga. target loads ( 250 rds. total ) for $94. including tax.. They did the same thing back in late January except back then the member price was 63 bucks. I shouldn't complain as I don't reload shotgun and everyone else around here seems to limit the quantity of ammo you can buy at once. Can't even recall the last time I saw any ammo at the local Wal-Mart.

I'm starting to consider getting into reloading shotshells after things get normal again. It's been really nice the last 18 months to not worry about how much rifle and handgun I shot because I can just make more. As of now I'm still OK on 12 ga, but I'm down to less than 200 rounds of 20ga low brass 7 and 8 shot.

I picked up 3 boxes of Winchester 20ga #8's a week or 2 ago. Less than $5/25 round box. They had some Federal that was $10-$12/box that I didn't buy. Also bought a box of 3" .410 #6's for $12. Only one they had.
They did however, have about 6 boxes of 350 Legend. Cheapest was $15.96, then some other that was $21.96.
2 boxes of 30-30 Rem Cor-lokt for $17.96 that I also left there.

I check mine weekly, past few weeks its a big stack of WWB 7.62x51 and the same 3 boxes of 16ga target loads. I keep hoping to go in one day and see a pile of the 100rd boxes of Federal 12gauge target loads that were $20.

I think the only shells my local Wal-Mart carries are bulk pack Winchester 12ga #7 loads. About $15 for 100. I cannot remember the last time I even saw 16ga on the shelf.

I pay 20$/100 at my local Walmart, have always been able to find ammo. That's the great thing about living in a blue town in a red state.

Edit: this is for 12 gauge.
