Everyone need to take in account that:

1) The Gen. 4's have a better recoil spring
2) It didn't include those goofy looking forward serrations on the slide (looks just like the 3rd Gen.)
3) It does have a larger magazine catch but until you actually get to feel one and really check it out I don't see why it would really bother someone.

and...

4) Lots of people like the grip feel of the 3rd Gen Glocks... so why hate on this one???

after all. The grip can be slightly smaller or slightly larger but if you don't like either one of those choices then just stick with the backstrap that has the same feel of the 3rd. Gen's... or just don't go with a Glock at all if you don't like the way it feels.

Everyone should really give it a chance before going all anit-glock on it

I WAS skeptical.
Glocks ALWAYS felt like pointing a brick or a 2x4 to me.
But, tried a Gen4 G-19 today...I LIKE it. (finally!)

For YEARS I have been trying to find a semi-auto replacement for the old Browning HiPower that fit as well. Last time I went through this I ended up with a Jframe, because nothing felt quite right. I always WANTED to like the Glock, but then when one ended up in my hand it was just No-Go.

The Gen4's are a whole new ballgame for me.
Now, if they'd just do the same for the subcompacts...

Take an XDm .40 and the Gen 4 22 to the range at the same time and you'll see why my son is getting a slightly used Gen 4 22 for his birthday next month... :D

Again, and this is straight from Glock, "Perfection for professionals" "Today, the Glock pistol is used by law enforcement and security agencies throughout the world. We offer future oriented system solutions for the professional requirements of our customers and accompany them with our service in any situation. The D.E.A, the N.Y.P.D., the K.F.O.R., S.F.O.R. Troop, German GSG9, The Washington Police and Vatican Police are just to name a few of the agencies that have decided on Glock Pistols.". "Perfection" stands for our comitment to uncompromising quality, future oriented manufacturing technologies and maximum customer satisfaction. This I gaurantee through our status as a private, independant company". Just because one customer says feature X would be nice, doesn't mean the majority of people feel the same way, and as others stated, Glock is not going to cater to the preferences of that small cheering section, which of that small cheering section is an even tinier percentage of people not happy with the product turn-out anyway. I don't think Glock would have made these changes if it wasn't in the best interest of the company, Glock was squeezed out of a few PD's solely based on the fact that the S+W M+P's had interchangable backstraps.

I don't own a Glock because of personal choice. I haven't found one that fits my hand and I hate the trigger. However, if they work for you, they are one of the most reliable gun designs ever made. See, no Glock bashing.
I'm sure that Glock did a lot of market research before they made any changes. They have to make a product that appeals to the widest number of potential customers. If you, the buying public, don't like these changes, you are free to take your money elsewhere. This debate reminds me of when 1911-type pistols started having serations on the front of the slide. You'da thunk someboby was burning down orphanages or raping nuns.

But Glock did open the door for aftermarket backstaps. Don't like the hump, make your own backstrap, sell 'em, get rich.

Maybe Magpul will make one.

I agree that Glock should offer a single stack g26, g23 and g19. Those would sell, even with .mil and PD types I bet. Plenty of plain clothes types out there.

They'd have to completely rework the trigger guts, but it's doable.

If you want a Gen 4, we have a member who sells them, I bought a pistol from him and he ad a dozen gen 4 19's, just look for "Going Quiet", his pricing is very good.

*wakes startled* Man I just had the strangest dream I was on Glocktalk! Haha

Seriously though. $100 to the person who goes through all the "THR" threads and calculates the actual "Glock threads to all threads" ratio!

I LOVE the gen4.

The grip angle is much improved (to me). Th grip feels more like my 1911s (which I grew up on) that I am familiar with.

You guys have to try the new Talon grip tape, I love it. It's only 10 bucks and make a world of difference on the sub compact models. If you carry concealed it will give you enough grip to eliminate the extensions. Thus making the pistol even more compact while not sacrificing your hold on the weapon. By the way they make it for other pistol models and makes.
