I am looking at getting a .357sig caliber handgun. I'm fairly well decided on a Glock 32. But, with the Gen 4 on the horizon, I am wondering "should I wait?" What is the likelihood that the 32 model is going to see the upgrades anytime in the near future (say within 6 months)?

Since this seems to be a fairly major (for Glock) overhaul of the ergonomics, is there a chance that the whole line will get it? Or is it more likely that it will be like the rtf upgrade and just come to the 17 and 22?

From what I've read, the recoil spring on the .40s&w will be one of the major upgrades for Gen 4, and it seems like that would be a worthy upgrade (perhaps more so) for the .357sig.

I would wait. Actually, I am waiting (for the 4th gen 35).
Interchangable backstrap, reduced recoil (triple spring rated for over 10K rounds), reversible enlarged mag release, short frame dimensions without backstrap add-ons. It might be a year before we get the models we want, but with the Georgia factory going into full swing it will happen pretty quick. They will even be marked, "Made in the USA."

I'm almost in the same situation, the .357 SIG is the only "common" caliber i don't have. I'm going to wait for Gen4, buy the model 22.......then go and buy the 357 drop in barrel...that would basically be a Gen4 32......i think that will work! anybody know?

I have to agree 100% with Baneblade. I owned a G35 for some time, and having fired many Glocks, it was by far my favorite. Now with the new models being released in 2010 (supposedly) with adjustable backstraps and such, I am waiting eagerly to try out the new G35.

Have to wait until the 2010 SHOT Show, in order to find out what models, calibers and features the 4th generation Glocks will have.

Supposedly, they'll have interchangable backstraps, dual captive recoil spring system and reversable magazine release. Also, FL Highway Patrol recently tested and adopted the 4th gen Glocks in .45GAP.

Glock is taking LE orders right now for the 22 and I believe the 17. Other models will have to wait. They are still around 200K units behind in production (they can only import so many). I am excited for the factory to get up an running. As of a couple weeks ago they were still hoping/planning on a November open date.

All of those import rules and regs go away overnight once the Georgia factory is in full swing. That will make it very easy for Glock to begin manufacturing 4th gen guns in all of the standard frame size varieties. After all, the 9, 40, 357, and 45 GAP all share identical frames (just switch out ejectors).

Yes, the recoil spring is similar-ish to the USP.

I was told there is a good picture of the 4th gen Glock on glocktalk, but I wasn't able to find it. I tried to see if someone here had one, but numerous people posted 3rd gen RTF Glocks, not the 4th gen. Then I was told I didn't know what I was talking about.

I would assume the barrels for 40 and 357 would be interchangable. However, the change to the recoil spring will prevent you from being able to use a 3rd gen barrel in the 4th gen gun. I guess you could modify an aftermarket barrel, but that is above my paygrade.

I'm really interested in this "reduced-recoil spring." Will the 4th gen. Glock 27spring be interchangeable with the current Glock 27???

There are such aftermarket springs already available, so it is not out of the question that it could be backward compatible. I know on my old USP, the spring setup really did help reduce felt recoil.
