I went to our local gunshop yesterday. I noticed they had lr primers on the shelf. They limited everyone to 2 boxes of 100 which I thought was very fair considering how hard they are to get. And the price was their regular retail price plus my usual 10% discount.

LR primers aren't the Holy Grail right now... it's the Small Rifle primers that are hard to find, and when I do, I am cashing in the 401K...

LOL ok, maybe no the 401K... :D

Guess who just came to my house? The UPS man with a case of small rifle magnum primers. These are the Wolf brand. I hope they are okay. I have never used them before.

I bought them from Wideners. They cost $26.40 a thousand. I wish I would have bought 5 cases when they were available. Oh well, stupid me. But at least now I have enough to load all the bullets I have. I just got in 12pounds of powder so I don't need to look for more supplies.

I do wish this shortage crap would get straightened out.

Got my 10K order of the regular small rifle primers by Wolf from Widener's too. $240 and some change shipped. They had sold out of the magnum ones when I ordered.

Be careful with those. I do not know what you shoot, but Wolf does not recommend using their SR primers in the AR15. They have copper cups where the recommended SRM primers have brass cups.

Wolf recommends the Small Rifle Magnum primers for use in ARs and similar semi-autos because the Magnums have a slightly harder cup: “The Wolf Standard Small Rifle Primers have an all-copper cup, which is a little more sensitive than the brass cup magnum primers. If you are loading for an AR15 or Military-style semi auto rifle, or are loading high pressure cartridges in any other type of rifle, we recommend the Magnum Small Rifle Primers. Both primers use the same amount of compound. The only difference is in the cup hardness.”
