Fourth amendment...?

It would almost be worth it to register there just to knock some sense into these people. But as a paintball forum, rest assured that most of them are probably younger than 18, many younger than 16, and they have yet to pupate before emerging into useful members of society.

It's also somewhat heartening to see that the discussion isn't entirely one sided.

This ones sad

nd for the fact do we need them/ no, but its more of our rights and liberty to be able to own one (4th amendment)

I used to play paintball and there are a lot of dumb young kids out there.

Quick list of some statements in the referenced thread that are true/false (original misspellings copied):

TRUE:
- Those things [.50 caliber rifles] can shoot throught engine blocks.
- …an armour peircing 50 can easlily shot through [bullet prove glass.]
- I know there is a difference between the .50 cal and a shotgun, but alot of people dont.
- My 30-06 if I aimed up high I could potentially hit soemthign 2 miles away.
- Althought it would be kind of cool to be able to shoot one of those [.50 caliber rifle]

FALSE:
- …our rights and liberty to be able to own one (4th amendment).
- …the north hollywood shootout was bad enough w. AK's...now imagine that scenario w. .50 cals. every single person out there that day would be dead.
- I belive the fourth amendment refers to us (the american peple) being able to bear arms…
- didn't the automatic weapons ban expire last year?
- only people with class III liscenses own automatic weapons. legal ones anyway.
- A good sniper with a .223 could take out a pilot in a moving plane.

The last one would likely be true if the “good sniper” was in the same plane as the pilot.

Holy Toledo! Where are those kids going to school? Who is teaching them grammar. I'm not a grammar wiz, but holy cow, those kids write like they're complete idiots.

They are also illustrative of the problems that main-stream media is causing for the future of the 2nd Amendment. Their comments about - who needs a gun like that anyway - and - you can shoot a pilot during take off - are straight off of the boob-tube.

There are likely hundreds of message boards out there with members of similar age and intellectual abilities, it's a lost cause.

Good thing is a bunch of children discussing whether or not something should be legal, when it is already legal, has little bearing on the real world. Leave it to the adults please.

All of those kids are a year older today. That thread is over a yr old...

Lets hope they've grown up a bit, and opened their eyes.

ok, the north hollywood shootout was bad enough w. AK's (for those of you who have no idea what im talking about, look it up, or email me, ill show you some vids)...now imagine that scenario w. .50 cals.

every single person out there that day would be dead. every last one of them. and thats only 1 .50 cal. and since they would be legal, they would be in more abundance, and since they are more abundant, every "thug" would have 1, so now the police and SWAT are totally outgunned and overpowered....and thats a good thing?

FTW!!!! I, for one, would love to see a gansta 'pop his trunk', setup his .50, and proceed to mow down all the enemies on his turf. With just ONE 50 cal!!!!! Oh, the horror...the children!!!!

That was a funny read; Thanks!!

I tried HARD to read that thread, but I could literally feel my brain cells atrophying.

Three things I picked up before slipping away:

1. I was AMAZED at how long it was before someone pointed out that the RTBA was in fact the 2A and not the 4A. What was even more amazing was that another poster-- in an expert fashion-- explained some finer points as if he were knowledgable but ALSO echoed the 4A as RKBA statement.

2. On of the repeated arguements of banning .50 calibers was echoed on the thread: They state that they should be banned because "they were designed to stop a vehicle dead in its tracks." Let me get this straight. A rifle designed to shoot a Buick should be banned? This guy must really have strong feelings for the internal combustion engine.

3. That tattoo was TERRIBLE. And we wonder where the media gets its opinion of gun owners....

Have you talked to many adults (outside of THR) lately.:what:
I suspect the discussion would not be all that different.:banghead:

While I don't think we should put too much weight on what a bunch of (pre)pubescent kids think nor do I think we should jump on their forum and start blasting away at them, we should try to educate youths if/when we get a chance. One day they will be of voting age.

One thing that came to mind while I was reading their thoughts on the "4th Amendment", paint-ball guns or "markers" as they are sometimes called, have been used in more crimes than a .50 caliber rifle. I remember seeing video of kids shooting people from cars with paint-ball guns and laughing while doing it. This would be simple assault, I would think. I don't recall a .50 ever being used in a crime.

So, using their "logic" that we should ban things that have no "legitimate need" and may be/are used to commit crimes, we should ban paint-ball guns. Also, according to a lot of people paint-ball guns train youths it is OK to shoot each other.

I wonder what these kids would think about someone using arguments similar to their own to outlaw paint-ball guns.

What did you find scary about it, Lucky? The occasional antigun posts or the evidence of utter cluelessness and lack of writing skills among todays youth?

If these kids are the future of gun control, it shouldn't be too hard to get the GCA and the NFA repealed inside of 20 years. Things just might be looking up.

 Good to know that 13 year olds who play with compressed air paint toys know whats best for gun owners.

Not as sad as that tatoo
That tatoo is a copy of the Pistoleros "mexican prison gang" members tatoo. That kid better hope he doesn't end up in a south west prison, or else he'll feel alot of sharpened toothbrushes in his chest and neck. The punishment from the gang for impersonating a member is death.

The public education system. The lack of fundamental knowledge of our republican form of government. The willingness to give control to the tentacles of "government" to preserve us....

It's sobering, a year old or not...

btw... no "class 3 license" needed to legally own a fun-gun.
Oops. I was letting the word “license” slide, because even though it is officially called a “tax stamp” you have to fill out and submit for approval forms to a government office to get the stamp, just like for a driver’s or fishing license. I missed the “class 3” error. I moved the statement from the True to False list in my original post.

NP! Just always trying to let fellow firearms enthusiasts realize how simple it is to own something like that! (as long as ya have managed to follow the rules;) )

I have shot a .50 I can honestly tell you they HAVE NO CIVILIAN PURPOSE. and the exit would will take the side off a deer. the .50 slug moves a lot faster than a 10 gauge slug.

#ing honestly dude. the .338 lapua Round is what most police snipers use because its half the size and doesn't require a cannon on a Bi-pod and half a day of aiming to fire.

I am a Member of the NRA also. and I probably own just as many if not more Guns than you do. My uncle is an Ex-Marine Ordinace/supplies Sargent, and he used to take me and my cousins to work all the time. I have learned everything I know about guns from him. - Haga652001
