WWII Stevens 620 Riot Gun (barrel about 19-20 inches)
Original except butt plate came from my gunsmith's box of old plates

1955 Winchester Model 12 (cut to 19.5 inch barrel)
Nothing original except the remaining metal

1972 High Standard Flite King 18-7 (18.25 inch barrel)
!00% original, might be unfired

1956 Ithaca Model 37 (cut to 18.5 inch barrel)
Replacement short stock, original remaining metal

Show off!!!! Seriously, you've got some really nice old-school iron there. I still like that 37.

Except for the Stevens, these are all classics that can be had on modest budget.

A comparable Stevens, without the military markings, could probably be had for about $200 or less.

The Model 12 had a short stock, a dent at the muzzle and the forearm was badly scarred.

The Ithaca ($250 at my local dealer) had a polychoke.

The Flite King is, I think, an undervalued classic. Really nice ones go for about $300.

Hello friends and neighbors // Very nice group the 620 looks to be in great shape for the age/use.

I don't think my 1958 Savage Springfield 67H even comes close to these especially the Stevens but I picked it up for $185.00 last month. It was a local LEO riot gun since the late 50s but I'm not sure it would qualify as a RG, it does not slamfire.

Are there criteria other than the short barrel to be condidered RG?

Great looking riot guns you've got there! Nothing like a good, solid short-barreled pumpgun, especially one with some martial history.

Also, this thread gives me an excuse to shamelessly post some of mine:

Here we've got:

--a 1977 Remington 870 Wingmaster originally shipped to the South Dakota Highway Patrol. Newer production wood.

--a 1989 Ithaca Model 87 Deerslayer Police Special

--and the weirdest of them all, a 1955 Wingmaster riot model used by the Royal Hong Kong Police. Barrel cut from 20" to 18.5" and restamped "CYL", possibly by the unit armorer. Never seen another one on these shores.

Hello friends and neighbors // Those are some aged beauties, I like old wood and honest wear the best.
I got my 18 1/2" from the local pawn shop armorer, the same local LEO sold them my Mosin.

Riot guns...

I'm seeing shotguns that have me foaming at the mouth!!

Over this last two years I've been growing fonder and fonder of the classic 12 gauge shotgun. So fond in fact that I'm building up a collection of my own although with cash being tight, the growth is slow.

They all look great! Wish I had them all and then some!!!
One question about the model 37 Ithaca because I have one on layaway.
I know the 37 Deerslayers only hold 4 in the mag tube + 1 chambered. That's 5 rounds total, not what I consider capacity for a riot gun. The one pictured has the etching on the receiver and looks identical to the one I've got on layaway. Is that model with the capacity of 4 + 1 = 5?

Yes. The pictured Ithaca is 4 in the magazine 1 in the chamber.
The barrel was cut to 18.5"
The stock was sold to me by someone on one of the gun forums. It was solid, but a bit short, a poor finish and a crudy pad. I highly recommend a shorter stock, 13" LOP or less, on an Ithaca riot gun.

Riot SG

Well from where I'm seated they all look NICE!!! I mean NICE as in wish I had 'em.

I have a Winchester model 12 that's in great shape and am told it belonged to an FBI agent, now retired. The barrel isn't cut and it's so darn nice I hate using it! As crazy as that sounds.

Nice guns all!

This is a 70's, bigger, 7 + 1 37.
Al

Hey Al LaVodka!
I'm not tracking, it's been a long day, I've put in 12 hours and this is the oldest I've ever been! So forgive me but what's 7+1??

Sorry AL but on my prior note I could not see the thumbnail.

NOW after recycling my computer several times I see it. REALLY fine looking SG Al

Sorry to say, the Stevens has the least "positive feel"
I think it is because of the relatively high weight and the small pump handle with no ring grooves.
But I still like it and look forward to patterning it as soon as I can. :)
I will also try to see if I can break birds with it at 16 yard trap.

If I could slightly stretch the concept of a 12ga "riot gun" over time, how about these? Top to bottom:

1) Beretta 1201FP, 12ga 20" semi-auto

2) Current Remington 870 12ga 18" pump

3) 1955 vintage Winchester 1897 12ga pump takedown. Previous owner cut it to about 18.5" with a modified screw-in choke

4) Early 1930s(?) Sears (Stevens 520) 12ga pump takedown. Cut to 18.5" with screw-in choke

5) Early 1920(?) vintage Husqvarna 12ga external hammer under-lever cut sometime in the past to about 20"
