Fox Hunting advice needed.

Deer season is over now so my cousin and I decided to try our hand at predator hunting. We picked up a Knight & Gale cotton tale squealer and a red lens spot light and started calling. I have watched several youtube videos on how to make the right sound but we can't seem to call in any foxes. We know there are foxes in the general area but they just won't come to out call. I am wondering if there are any experienced fox hunters out there that could lend some advice. Thanx in advance.

A couple of buds and I do quite a bit of fox hunting. We've found that rabbit (we use snoshoe hare) sounds will bring them in only so far and they hang up a ways out. I suspect it's because they're afraid that wolves may have homed in on the noise too and don't want to become part of dinner themselves. In VA foxes are still pretty low on the predatory food chain as you have bobcats and probably coyotes. So they may be hanging up to make sure it's safe. You need something else to close the deal.

We found the squeaker, kissy lips and fox/canine pup distress sounds brings them straight in.

Thanx for the advice stevelyn. We did manage to call one in to about 100yds tonight but than my cousin had to miss:banghead:. Pardon my ignorance but what are kissy lips? Also should we try an electronic call or should we stick with the squealer.
