I've always been a rifle and handgun guy, but I enjoy clay shooting with a friend of mine, but I don't own a shotgun (yet).

I really like the looks of SxS and for some reason the old Savage Fox B 12 gauges have really caught my eye. Am I silly to consider an older shotgun for fun/clay/plinking purposes?

I'd really like advice/input from someone that owns a Fox Savage, but anyone is welcome to respond (obviously).

I bought one new in 1974 with money I made mowing grass all summer. It broke on the 1st dove hunt and over the next 10 years it literally spent more time in a gunsmiths shop than in my home. I finally sold it at a Flea Market.

Those were cheap budget guns when new. They were made for the guy who shot a box or 2 of ammo a year and would probably last a lifetime at that rate. All the interanl parts are made of cheap stampings or soft metal that wears out quickly.

Those guns haven't been made in years and even if you don't get a lemon, most of their useful life has been used up.
