I'm new here (1st post!) but I'm pretty active over at saiga12. Anyways I wanted to let you guys know about a project I started to provide a good tactical video training resource to average joe citizens.

I was posting all my videos up onto youtube, but I find youtube difficult to navigate to the content I really want to see. So I created a website to organize my content. Check it out, It's a work in progress, and you can comment or make requests in the Request Line section.

My focus is primary on the AK weapons platform at the present, but I will move into other weapon's systems (ARs etc) later.
I cover anything related to the tactical employment of the AK. This is not a company (although I'd like it to be in a few years when I get off active duty) it's just a personal project of mine.

Later on I'll be uploading training material (ppts, pdfs etc, all original by me so copyright is gtg)

RE: Training background

While I was in the Marines (02-07) I did standard small arms trainings and CQB/MOUNT (5yrs) I was not a grunt and do not have a CAR, and I cannot be specific about my MOS .

I always shot well and now I'm working for DHS (3yrs and counting) as an LEO. I instruct on use of force, tactical procedures, and standard LE quals and competency's. I started training on the AK in 2008 as a hobby, applying some of my military and LE training. My training and experience is on going and I just received a new assignment, which I will not elaborate on due to it's sensitive nature. Once I get settled and learn more about my new assignment as in what I can and should share I want to post up some training from work also.

So I don't use an AK at work I use an m4, but there is allot more training for ARs and I really like the AK so I started Sappony Tactical as a project to provide a free training resource.

I plan on posting a bunch of AR and Pistol stuff in the future but for now I'm focusing on the AK. My ultimate goal is to make a career in the firearms industry anyway I can (Training, building AK and AR, Accessories etc. whatever)

Thanks!

Using the fresh mag to drop the empty is the most efficient way I've found...like the OP was doing after the tac reloads in the video. I carried an AK in Iraq as a contractor and trained Afghan soldiers with 'em. There wasn't much AK specefic info in '05 when I got issued one...I found a DVD on the AK by a former Spetsnaz soldier.

Edit: Nice vid Krom. The AK is a great weapon with a red dot and some training to overcome its ergonomic shortcomings. Good to see it get more love in the training community lately.

Which of the two styles of speed reloads you show for the AK do you prefer?
It is situation dependent, as in what position I'm shooting from etc. I prefer to either do a tac reload and if I have to drop the mag without retaining it becomes a speed reload (weapon is not empty).

Or run the weapon dry and emergency reload it by exacting the old mag with the new one (standing), or prone etc I use my reaction hand to extract prior to reloading a new mag.

In your original post you said you would like to start a company after you leave active duty, but your second post states that you left the Marines in 2007. Am I missing something?

Great site just wondering why I am getting a secure information warning when I click on it? Is it legal to train ordinary citizens with a Full Auto?

I'm active duty with DHS at present, and a Prior Marine.

Must be a google sites thing...? Can you view everything ok? Any problems with the site?

I have never shot a 3 burst or full auto would love to try it once . Site seems okay other than that but you have a link on it that you may not want everyone that comes to your site to be able to access.

Thanks. Never heard fed service described as "active duty" before.

Oh; and what is MOUNT?

I'm guessing he typed MOUT and his spell-check "fixed" it for him.

If you haven't heard of that acronym, it stands for Military Operations in Urban Terrain and has started to be replaced with "UO" for Urban Operations these days.

Even back in the 90's, when we spoke of what Sam referenced, we pronounced it "mount".

To pronouce MOUT phonetically precise it would sound "moot", or "mute". "Mount" just rolls off the tongue much better, so when I told my guys, "We're scheduled for two weeks of mount training next month", everyone knew where we were headed, and that we'd be doing urban warfare training.

And it would undoubtably generate a few references to the vernacular from the crowd of young men as well . . . .

When I took my carbine class, I used an AK. The safety/selector switch is a little stiff. With a vise-grip and the right tension, one can make it easier to swipe the safety down without going too far to lock into the right spot.

Anyone recall what the progression of the lever is from safe on the "real deal"?

Yes MOUT is pronouced 'mount' as in Military Operations on Urban Terrain. I misspelled it :)
