Just got an email from Freedom Munitions is in Chapter 11.

I've been buying both new and remanufactured 9mm and .38 special ammo from them for the past two years. It always goes bang and seems to shoot cleanly. Wonder what happened.

I won't be using them again as I'd hate to pay for something and then have them go under without me getting what I paid for.

So who are people buying their mail-order ammo from? Would like to hear about sellers who have decent ammo at good prices and don't kill on shipping charges.

This is the second mention of their problems I've seen. I've been happy with the ammo they have provided me. I hope they pull through.

It's unfortunate, but i can understand why they are in the situation they are in. A few years ago especially leading up to the panic before the election and during Obama ammo was in more demand and there was less on the shelves. FM was cheaper than a lot of other places at that time and generally had ammo available

Now that the market is more stabilized there are better deals to be had an i can find new brass 9mm 223/556 cheaper than their reman. SGammo beats them in pricing on pretty much everything when i compare. I wish them luck, but they may have to reevaluate how they do business if they want to avoid going under

Chapter 11 isn't "going under." It's reorganization. We have another thread on this topic.

Order using a credit card. There's little to no reason to hesitate to do business with a retailer in Chapter 11 for consumable, in-stock items.

Ive ordered several hundred rounds 9mm and 38 spl last year. I canceled last order because it was never fullfilled after waiting almost a month.

I see FM at the local gun show down here and I find their prices higher then I can order it on line. I order from three different places, Target Sport USA, SGAmmo and UN Ammo.

I've never gotten anything from FM because many times I'm looking for a very specific brand/caliber, and they never seem to have exactly what I'm looking for in stock.
And these aren't so uncommon that I can't usually find them on other sites.

In 9mm they're charging around 8 cents for plated bullets and 11 for jacketed. Add in around 3 cents for a primer and 2 for powder and you're looking at 13-16 cents a round plus shipping provided you have your own brass. Right now I can buy factory loaded 9mm at 16 cents for steel, 17 cents for aluminum and 18 cents for brass, shipped free with no tax.

I like reloading but not at those prices. For other calibers such as 10mm and others sure but reloading 9mm doesn't make much sense right now and without 9mm there's a problem for companies such as this.

The Gander Outdoors where I live has tons of their stuff in stock in a wide variety of choices.
