I have a 700 rem. I have had since I was a kid. shoots good, I want to freshen it up, refinish stock, (i would like low luster maybe oil finish after stripping and cleaning, freshen blueing on barrel and bolt (does touching up worn bluing work well, or do I need to strip it and start fresh?) the mag. drop plate and trigger guard are alum. and need fresh finish. I would also like to identify the adjustment screws on the stock trigger. I adjusted the trigger lighter pull but not shure about the other 2 adjustment screws. will they stay secure without dab of glue as it came from the factory?? Comments???????

Cold bluing touch up generally doesn't look good and doesn't wear well either. If the rifle is important to you, send it to a pro for hot tank re-blue. A pro will carefully polish to make sure corners and stamped lettering stays sharp. Bluing doesn't work on aluminum. The floorplate will have to be re-anodized. A good anodizing shop will give you a deep black color without purple or red hue.
