Friends to shoot with in Atlanta Ga area

HI:
I am om the south side of the Atlanta Airport and want land to shoot on. I am sick of indoor ranges, since the last one I was at a person had a bad accident and was shot to death in one of the lanes! I am not much happier with outdoor ranges either. I am not a hunter. Butwill get a few squirells with hunting license for someone who needs them. Or i can clear out beavers damning up your land. I am a non smoker or drinker, and drugs are very much out of the picture for me. I clean up after myself. I do not shoot at glass or other things to put people at harm. I would be happy to pay for a few hours on a nice afternoon killing gallon water bottles! HE!HE!
I have a few Class III weapons if it were ok to shoot there of if you had an interest in shooting some of them, that would be fine. I consider myself very responsiable person.

I too would like an outdoor place to shoot. Even at outdoor range would work for me.
Im in Smyrna, close to Atl.
Ive yet to actually shoot my newly aqcuired Sig 226, and after the 18th I will hopefully have an AK of some kind to shoot too.
I would love to get together with someone local to shoot if they didnt mind me being such an amateur.

I am just south of you near Peachtree City. Funny you just getting a new p226! (Lucky) I just four days ago a almost like new p226 9mm. Atlanta has grown so fast it is harder to find anyone who will allow you to shoot anywhere.
I am no newbie, been at it since a child still a child of 57 now!! As I said I am a responsiable non drug user /non drinker. I wish we could get several like minded people in and around Atlanta area. Who would allow us to use a small part of their land to shoot. I am not a hunter. except a few rabbits. I will clearout snakes and other troublesome type varmets if ask to do so.
And certainly would not mind paying a fee and help keep property clean. A group of us would be cream of the crop. As I am sure we all have a few different interesting firearms so share. I sure Hope our list grows Spartain. And if you are a new shooter, all us oldder experienced shooters usually are happy to help someone else grow in our sport!

I live on the south side as well and would be interested in getting together to shoot. I actually thought about buying into the South River Gun club but I heard dues are like a house payment. Still, it seems to offer the best alternative.

Range

Check into the Griffin Gun Club. It even has a group that shoots class 3 weapons.
It is located about 30 miles S.E. of Atlanta airport.

Thats cool theres a few more people on here now.
Last weekend at the gunshow I did in fact get an AK(WASR-10 w/Tapco furniture already installed, just how I wanted it) and cannot wait to shoot the thing.
My girlfriend has the wheels of the household, so if anything were to materialize would you mind if she was there as well? I really really need to get her into shooting, at least alittle, to help put my mind at ease some.

Thanks ken for the information that is a start! I like the fact we can shoot NFA Class III weapons there as well.

Hope we hear from some other folks! All of us with old black powder rifles and a few NFA suppressed guns would be a fine time!

We really should have a Georgia Highroaders shoot. I was at the South River Gun Club this past Sunday to shoot in my first IDPA match. The range is really nice and offers some nice facilities. I am not sure if it is a private range but if not then I think it would be a great place to hold a get together.

BTW, there is another match this Sunday at SRGC for unclassified shooters. I doubt I will make it but I am actually considering it.

South River is a private range. Normally they do not allow private get-togethers unless there is a member as part of the group, and you still have to pay the range fees and sign a waiver, much like the one you signed at the IDPA match. If you're serious about having some sort of gathering there, the person to talk to is Bill Clay. You should be able to locate him at the club house near the entrance.

Anyone been to the new outdoor range SOuth of Cartersville near the power plant in Euharlee?

Guy is trying to get the word out. Very good price, with a dedicated rifle as well as pistol range.
 
No. I shoot at Charles Elliot wildlife management area. It is South of Mansfield. Totally owned by the state, FREE to shoot, NO range control, roof over the shooters area, what else could you ask for? :)
 
I live in Alpharetta and would love a outdoor place to shoot. I am going to find out about the place in Mansfield wherever that is.
 
I live in Austell and I would love to meet other local folks and would like to shoot outside. I have a new Walther P-22 that I bought a week ago Saturday. Already had it out to Hotshots here in Austell this past week for the first time.

I will keep an eye on this thread to see if you guys are planning any get-togethers. I know several local folks from GlockTalk as well and we have all gone shooting in the past up to American Classic Marksman in Norcross........

I plan to attend the IDPA shoot this coming Sunday 4/22 if anyone is interested in attending. I attended my first match last month and wasn't sure what to expect. I thought everyone would be quite an too themselves and all about the "W" but nothing could have been further from the truth. I really enjoyed myself and can't wait to try it again.

I hope to see some of you all there.

Great can you give directions for Charles Elliot wildlife management area? I hear some of the people who Have land like Georgia power will give premission to shoot or hunt on there property if you ask. Does any one know of this and how to do that??\Thanks,

Finally made it to Hot SHots on Austell Road to shoot my 226. Place was pretty nice and the people were layed back, Ill definatly shoot there again, even though you cant bring rifles.

Is anyone here going to the Gunshow the weekend of the 2-3 next month at the Marietta Civic Center?
