My son and his wife live in Atlanta near Georgia Tech. I am requesting some advice for convenient shooting clubs with outdoor facilities, indoor ranges for inclement weather and a good CCW instructor.

Outdoor clubs: Cherookee Gun Club and there is another farther north in Forsyth County. Both very nice yet far.
Indoor: Nothing very close to town, closest is American Classic Marskman, north up Peachtree Industrial about 15 miles. Nice people and range is ok. Can get crowded. CCW instructos there are very good. Walt Sippel is one name I can recall. Another range is Bull's Eye Range in Lawrenceville, about 30 Miles NE. One of my favorite stores, least favorite ranges.
Shotguns: Tom Lowe Shooting grounds is where the 96 Olympics were held and is located sw of the airport.

There's a newer indoor range in Forsyth county off of Post Rd.
I've been in the range but haven't used it yet. Looked like a nice place had CCTV to kep a eye on the shooting lanes.

Bullseye Marksman Gun Club is a new shop and range in Cummings.
Hot Shots Gun Shop and Shooting Range in Marietta is another that has been mentioned on THR.
If anyone has an opinion on these places, I'd like to hear it.

I think Hot Shots is the best. Clean, well run. Classic marksman does a good job. The only reason to go to Bullseye is if you are in the vicinity. Very dirty, run down. Good prices on pistols however.

You might be confusing them with Bull's Eye Indoor Range & Gun Shop in Lawrenceville. They seem to have a different attitude than the other two shops I mentioned.

Hot Shots in Marietta is nice, I have only been there once. Problem was, the guns were so expensive I was scared off.
ACM is favorite, Bull's Eye in Lawrenceville is least favorite range, but it is my "honey hole" of gun shops. It seems that every time I go in there I find exactly what i was looking for for a better then good price. Example, today I was thinking of getting a .22 revolver or Ruger 22/45. Walk into a shop in the buckhead area, great S&W model 34 for $400. Very tempting but I will keep looking. Go to Bulls'eye because I am in area and find a LNIB 22/45 4" Bull barrel P4 model for $180. It happens every time. The guys there are nice, once you go in a few times. They are a little standoffish at first, I think because the place attracts alot of gunstore commandos. They offer Class III firearms for rent, much fun, and this brings in certain types.
There is also a free outdoor range about 1 hour east of Atlanta, with 200yd rifle and pistol ranges. It's on the Chalie Elliot WMA, real nice facility for free.

Atlanta Classic Marksman - Nice range, with very nice folks running the joint. They charge a flat rate of $12 for range time, however, it can get crowded on the weekends, so make sure to call ahead. I believe they have a ladies night as well. Walt is a very nice guy. As for their gun prices, they tend to be on the high side.

Depends on what kind of range you want. I go to the Dekalb County firing range in Lithonia just off of I-20 East at the Browns Mill Road exit. It's a bare bones outdoor range run by the police department that's open to the public on Friday. It costs $7.00 dollars an hour for a set of targets at 25, 50 and 100 yards, respectively. Call 770-484-3046; sometimes it might not be open due to training by the police, so call ahead to check.
can't recall the name of the range, but the most convenient to downtown is just off I-75 when you cross into Clayton County in Forest Park. Nice people, good (not great) range. less than 15 minutes from downtown when its not rush hour.

One of the best ranges I found in the metro area is the South River Gun Club.
Just about anything you want. 25' pistol to 300 yard high power, plus trap ,
skeet, and sporting clays. Real nice people running the club house and store
too. Just east of Atlanta out I-20 between Conyers and Covington on highway
212 south of I-20. Call then at 770-786-3752. Good helpful folks. you'll enjoy.
