Thank you scrat. It was a thrill to see your post after I did mine. Great minds think alike. :)

Last year I wanted to age a couple of Remmies so I wrapped them in towels soaked in vinegar for 5-10 minutes to remove the bluing but only in areas that would normally show aging and natural use which is what it did. And by using the towel wrap, that was accomplished. Bluing was left on in areas where wear would not have been seen. And I took a screw driver and slapped the grips fairly hard for a few minutes at different angles to achieve a look of hard use on them also. I took them into a shower stall and with hot water running, left them in there for maybe half an hour. Only after borebuttering the cylinder, internals, and bore. Took them out to dry for an hour and rubbed them down with livestock reumitoid cream and they look like they were just found in a barn on the Gettysburg battlefield. And they shoot just as accurate as they always did and except for having Italian gun maker proofs you would not tell the difference between them and the real thing 150 years older.

Sounds great - I'd really like to see them - any chance of photos please?

I have never learned how to post a picture, but if took time and dragged my grandson to the computer maybe he could show me how. Ever since visiting this site I have always wanted to post my prize possession. Try the vinegar wrapped towel, you will like the results.
