I have kids. There are no loaded weapons in my house that aren't locked up or under my direct control. The Model 12 is in the longgun safe, and my CCW, when not on my person, is in the bedside safe.
Many people in this forum carry while in their homes. There are compelling reasons for doing so. For my own personal reasons, I do not to carry while in my house.
With this in mind, and without turning this into a "you should carry in your home, too" thread, I'm looking for member opinions on the usefullness and practicality of a wall-mounted handgun safe in the front hall closet.
This would make a gun accessible for opening the door late at night, or if I had to get out of the house immediately, and didn't have time to go all the way upstairs to the bedroom. (A possible situation: "Daddy, someone just drove away with my sister!")
