Front sight for Mauser

Does anyone have or know where i can get a front sight for a 5.55 Carl Gustaffs stadt 6.55 Swiss Mauser, Im trying to get this rifle to shoot dead on at 100 yds, i want to file the sight down ,but i dont want to do it to the original one if i can help it. any help or comments would be appreciated....Mac

Don't know where you can get the sight but it's a Swedish, not Swiss, Mauser. Common mistake.

Are you striking low at 100 yards?
Filing the front sight will raise the point of impact.
Most unusual on older military rifles built with visions of long range barrages. Most of them shoot high at close range and call for a taller front sight.

Either way, a replacement blade is available

Swedish mauser oooops

Swedish mauser oooops, WOW so many mistakes on my first post. Yes i am trying to LOWER the point of impact ,this thing shoots a foot high at 100yds, Any idea how to drop it down, its real hard to shoot a consistant group ,guessing how low to hold every shot.
Do you think the sight blank from brownells would be higher than an original sight ???

Fixed sights on many rifles of that era were set for a 300m battle zero.

I don't know how high the original is but this one is listed in the catalog link above as a
".375" high blade."

Add a little material to the top of the blade,shape and file down as needed.Shape the material only. JB works good. Measure end result and order replacement or just leave it as is.

Kebco LLC has new front sights for Swedish Mausers. Your sight and sight base should be marked something like +1 or some such. The highest one I see currently on the Web site is a +2.5. This might be high enough for you. Let us know what yours is marked.

A higher front sight will lower your point of impact. I suppose you could fit a higher sight to your dovetail, but the jb weld sounds ok to me.
