What is the proper front sight height for a LE No.4 Mk. 1. Who ever sporterized my LE left the standard rear sight and put a William ramp and Ivory bead on the front. While the bead is great, it is too short: The gun is shooting about 18+ inches high at 100 yds.

So, what is the measurement from the center of the bore to the top of the blade of an unsporterized LE No. 4 Mk. 1.?

Thanks in advance.

I just checked a No 4 Mk2 and I get 1.110 from center of bore to top of blade. This rifle is dead on at 300 yards with the 300 yard battle sight shooting 174 grain ball ammo.

There are about 8 (I think, but it could as many as 10) different front sight heights out there. There is not a "proper" front sight blade. It depends on the rifle. Do you have the adjustable rear sight or the 300/600 flip? If you have the adjustable, adjust it to the lowest point and try it. My Savage #4mk1*'s all shoot about 12" high at 100 yards, which is close to battle sighting (300 yards zero).
