The front sight on my Zouve is a blade but pretty fine which makes it hard to see, I'm thinking of doing the rear face of it the part you see white, think this will help? It doesn't have a bead on top so can't do just that. I on the old side and even with glasses it was tough to see the front nice and sharp.

As we get older, the sights on some of the muskets get harder to see. The Zouave is one of those. White works for some, but I have found that yellow works better for me. Green also works pretty well. There are available sight paint kits with several different colors of sight paint. On one gun, I have two colors. the lower half of the blade one color, the upper part another. Acts almost like the bead you talk about. I am in the process of doing this with all my muskets.

On my Musketoon I have painted the back of the blade in Day-Glo orange. It shows up very well in dim light.

Your not painting the whole blade are you? Just the rear portion we see?
I like the fiber optics on the Tradition Hawken see it great and its day glo I think I'll try that.

On some of my pistol sight blades that I use indoors, I apply pieces of orange target or price scan or U.S. Mail adhesive backed stickers/labels that are only temporary.
But they glow well and can be removed and replaced easily so that I can readily switch back and forth.
The only problem is when the front sight blade is very small or low, it takes repeated tries to postion the adhesive paper and to get it to adhere without enlarging the sight too much.
But with some extra effort and experimentation it usually works out very well, mostly by bearing down on it repeatedly with a fingernail to flatten it and mold it into shape.
A narrow front rifle sight blade should be easy to cover with a piece of orange sticker even if just to give it a try.
