Over 10 years ago I acquired some Frontier 44mag brass. They've been reloaded probably 10 times with no problems. I'd say they are at least as good as Winchester or Starline brass. I don't have any experience with their rifle brass though.

I'd have no problem buying them if I came across some in a caliber I needed.

If you can tell the difference, then you'll know it's no good. Until then, what's the difference? Don't throw out perfectly good brass just because some guy on the internet had one bad experience.

"Frontier" was the old brand name for Hornady ammunition from the 1960s-1970s when it was Pacific Tool company. So you could say the brass is older than dirt, and made when Christ was a Corporal and hadn't made Buck Sergeant yet. :what: (only NCOs can walk on water)

I have used it in several revolver CAL loadings (38 SPL, 357, 44 MAG, 45 LC ) and it worked well and lasted as well as other brands. I also have used it with 32 WIN SPL and it was as good as the Federal and RP brass I was using. I would load er up and not worry about it. It's not like we are talking about A-MERC brass here. I would not just throw it in the scrap bucket for no reason other than someone said it was poor quality, If a LOT of people did then I might possibly do it.:scrutiny:

Back in the early-ish 1980's I had a bunch of Frontier brass for my high powered rifle loads. It lasted just as long as any other brass I used and didn't have any noticable flaws. I don't even know if the Frontier haed stamp is still in production any more?

I seem to have heard somewhere very early Frontier brass was once fired military, and when Hornady took them over they went to who ever would supply them with new Frontier headstamped brass cheapest. I believe Winchester made alot of it in the beginning.
Brass stamped Hornady is house made.

Market diversity is another hallmark of Hornady Manufacturing Company. Our first venture into a market other than bullets was in 1964 when Joyce started Frontier Ammunition, a line of remanufactured ammunition that utilized surplus military brass. Frontier Ammunition was loaded to factory specifications using Hornady bullets. The Vietnam War forced Hornady Manufacturing to start using newly-manufactured cases. This business continued to grow and has matured into our very successful line of Hornady ammunition, comprised of Custom, Light & Heavy Magnum, Match, Varmint Express, and TAP premium law enforcement and military ammunition
Google knows all. :)

A friend gave me some .308 brass marked Frontier on them that he had shot recently as Hornady actory ammo. He says he bought the ammo sometime in the last 4 years, so it isn't all that old. I have used them at least a couple times and they seem to be just fine.
