Anybody else catcth this show on the Discovery Channel last night (and last week)?

Pretty interesting, for the most part. I did spot this though, as there was a segment in which officers armed with handguns went up against a barricaded suspect with a rifle:

"A gun's accuracy is determined by the length of its barrel."

Since when does a pistol barrel go all the way to the back of the slide?

Using their scale, that SKS appears to have about a 12" barrel.

that must explain why an SKS is so much more accurate than an AR15....

At least they said accuracy was due to the barrel length, instead of the power of the round. Too long a barrel and I think you get friction on the round. There's an optimum length...
I never new that the SKS was really a bullpup. See? The mag feeds BACKWARDS. With Russian black magic, they manage to make the thing go back into the stock, then into the barrel.
The Glock uses a telescoping barrel, like a naval gun. See, after a round comes out the barrel is telescoped forwards. Another round pops up out of the mag (sorry, I meant clip), and is ready to be loaded into the barrel. When you pull the trigger, the barrel slams back, smashing the cartridge primer onto a fixed pin at the back of the frame, like a mortar. The case is ejected when the gun telescopes forwards. This makes the Glocks the safest automatic revolvers on the market today.

At least they got the barrel length right (On the G22, not sure what a SKS usually is). From their measuring points it should be 7.32" for the slide.
Of course a guns accuracy is determined by it's barrel length. That's why all the NRA hi-power shooters have 64" barrels on their AR-15's

AK price?

I saw this show last week. One statement got my attention.
They said you could get a Full auto AK on the Las Vagas street for less that $100.
Really...

I thought it was funny that they were saying the guy was using an SKS rifle or at least making all the comparisons to it while the guy was in the aparment when he was obviously not using an SKS.

I didn't notice the illustration had the barrel length going all the way to the back of the gun. Good catch. I'm liking this show though.
