Okay, the title's a little deceptive. I MIGHT be moving to Las Vegas, NV. I think there's a company that's pretty eager to make me an offer.
If I accept, will there be anyplace to shoot? I don't mean a formal range, I mean going out to the desert to blast away.
And gun shops? Every time I try to google gunstores in Las Vegas, it seems like all I get is this one place that rents SMGs to turistas.
I can't believe I'm willing even to entertain an offer in Las Vegas. I've really disliked it everytime I've visited. It's hot and it's an eyesore. The water tastes funny.

More than 80% of Nevada is BLM/open land. Once you get there, get a map
of Nevada. Find anywhere that is BLM land, drive a mile or so off the paved highway, make sure there are no buildings around, set up a target with a suitable backstop and enjoy freedom. Most of the Vegas valley is built up so you will have to drive at least 45+ minutes to get to open desert. But once there you can shoot anywhere that is public land where no one else or no property is in danger. Vegas probably has lots of gun stores. Most are listed in the yellow pages. In Clark county you do have to register your handguns with the local police if you actually live there but that only applies to Clark county residents. Nevada isn't a perfect place for gun freedoms thanks to the overly liberal population of Vegas, the rest of the state however is quite gun friendly. And we do have state laws preempting gun control at the local level.

Yep, the water tastes like crap. Either get used to it, get bottled water, or learn to drink something else.

Got school-age kids?

Stop in here (Discount Firearms) if you're looking for a friendly little gun shop. They're close to the Strip, and they do get an occasional tourist, but they're reasonable, friendly, and have a nice range.

Desert Sportsman's

You can shoot at the Desert Sportsman's Range complex West of town. It is where the SOF three gun match used to be held. They have a HUGE range complex there.

I recently moved away from Vegas. Its an hour drive minimum to get some place legal to shoot outdoors. Its not legal to shoot anywhere where you can see any part of the city. They have additional areas deginated "no shoot" areas such as apex at the north end and Rainbow at the south. Desert Sportsman is the only practical option. American shooters on Arville isnt terrible for an indoor range but only 50 yards on the rifle range. If you have a very shooting oreinted life style, expect that to change and not for the better.:(

Desert Sportsman's is a private club so don't just show up expecting to shoot. But if you live on the west side of town it's the best option. For indoor ranges Discount is the best.

Everywhere else in NV you can go out in the desert and shoot, but not Clark Co. It must be at ranges or approved BLM land, which is down by the Sloan exit or north out of town in a little Grand Canyon looking area.
