I'm going to Las Vegas in a few weeks and I would like to hit the range and rent some machine guns. What's the best place to do this?

The Gun Store is good but is a ways from the Strip. Discount Guns on Industrial is new and should be a good place to go, but I haven't shot there. There's also American Shooter's Supply on Arville, but they're more expensive than The Gun Store and have a no CCW policy so I quit going there long ago.

The best place? Out at Desert Sportsman's when I'm shooting my Uzi! :D

I visited American Shooters Supply last October. It is close to the Strip. I shot a Thompson and an AR15. The staff was helpful. Bring lots of money.

You mean as a resident ?
You can shoot rifles at Desert Sportsmans, and at the Boulder City range. You can shoot High Power matches at both places plus Nellis AFB.
If you are talking about just informally plinking with a rifle, you will have to go out in the desert outside of the Las Vegas Valley.

Both Discount Firearms (on Highland) and American Shooters (on Arville) have indoor rifle facilities, but DF doesn't seperate rifle from pistol. I have shot 5.56Nato at AS and have watched 7.62Nato shot at DF. The DF range is more fun. They have great target holders that don't swing when they move back and forth, they can pivot the target, and if the range isn't busy, the rangemaster can run you through low light/no light drills, DEA drills, BATFE drills and SWAT drills. Ammo prices are better at DF also. If you go to AS, bring your own ammo, cause they're expensive.

Both are easy to get to from the strip.

Shooting in the wild areas of Clark County is illegal, technically, so you take your chances.

Go to the the Gun Store and shoot the SAW. I did. Took days to wipe that grin off my face. When you shoot the SAW make sure you start yelling, "Yea..get some, come on, git some!!!"
