Full size 22 rifle

I would look at a Ruger 10/22 with a Houge stock. I have the same size as you and it fits me well.

I have one and I like it, don't misunderstand, but my Remington 597 is a full sized gun. Compared to it, my 10/22 in the Hogue stock feels like a Daisy Red Rider. The 10/22 is lighter and handier in the field, but the Remmy feels like a real rifle.

You should try my BRNO Model 3. Snatch up one of these and carry it around a while and you'll decide you've found yourself a full-size .22 LR. 27.5" heavy barrel, about 9 pounds, and built like a sledgehammer. :)

Good Point MCg, I forgot about the Reminton 597. I am a tried and true 10/22 nut and often for get to think about other offerings...good suggestion.

While ugly, many of the slip on butt pads can make a smaller sized rifle feel bigger than it is. I used one on a 10-22 to bring it up from their carbine length stock to something more manageable for an adult. It wasn't as elegant as buying an Anschutz but it also didn't cost near as much either.

If you have the money, an Anschutz, Cooper, or Kimber should all shoulder and handle like a full sized rifle. They do come at a premium though, but they are all top performing rifles, in their respective listed order.

CZ makes some rifles that feel larger also. Their Varmint and Lux (of which I own and have shot extensively) both fit a full sized adult.

The Henry lever action is very handy but it is too small for me to enjoy as much as a 39a. The Henry feels like a scaled down youth model 22lr while the 39a feels like a full sized lever action. Sometimes the more handy Henry is a better fit for a job, but for enjoyment, I much prefer the 39a.

I have a few older Remington's as well and they all feel like full sized centerfires. My Ancshutz's are very nice shooters and fit well, though they weren't cheap. The Kimber's are great rifles, though again came at a premium. The old Remington 40x is the same footprint as a 722/700 action and feels full sized, though most are single shot or very pricey.

On a budget, I'd grab a slip on recoil pad. A little more budget, I'd find a CZ or a used Remington/Winchester or Marlin 39a. On a large budget I'd go with an Anschutz, Cooper, or Kimber.

Love my Mossberg 44US. Like the Brno #3 above it weighs a good 9 lbs and handles like a "real" rifle. A bit pricy right now but still a good buy compared to new rifles.

Polish Wifama WZ78

You might want to heft one of these bad boys before making a decision: the WZ78 Polish Wifama bolt-action. They can be had for about $250.00 and it's one handful of rifle. They feature heavy target barrels, a full size stock, removable sights, 5-round mag, adjustable trigger, et cetera. Accuracy is top-notch, right up there with the CZs and Annies. They were used in Poland for training youth for military service, but the one I got appeared to be unfired, unused condition. Has a great scope rail as well.

Thank you. I got it from Southern Ohio Gun, and I guess it was just a "good batch," as many of the members at RimFireCentral found theirs in similar condition. It was just under 200 bucks if I recall.

The OP didn't specify the action type. He just wanted a rifle that fit's him.

I'm 6,2 and the Marlin 39 is very comfortable for me. But my go to rifle when I walk out the door is a CZ 452 Lux. It fits me as if it was custom made for a tall man.

Can we take away from this that you didn't read the other post in this thread after the OP...specifically post #11

No, I read it...........but, I'm old and apparently forgetful.

I am a big fellow myself. I have no problem with a rimfire that is to small for me. It's not like the recoil is going to drive my thumb into my nose. I had to extend the stock on my 91/30 but it actually has felt recoil.

+1 on the CZs. The 452 should work out just fine for your size if you were looking for bolt action.

What do you want to use the semi-auto for? Rapid fire shooting? If so, what about an AR-15 with a .22 LR conversion? Tons of aftermarket stocks you could make fit yourself well.

There are also tons of aftermarket stocks for the Ruger 10/22, so I'm sure one might be adjustable enough to fit you. Surely there are lots of 6'3" guys who shoot them.

If you want something for accuracy and precision, bang for buck I'd go with a CZ bolt action.

I'm a pretty good sized fellow, at a tad over six feet, and like you I always thought a lot of 22's felt like toys. I never cared at all for the Ruger 10/22 especially.

Until I found the "Wally-World Special" at Wal-Mart. A totally different feeling gun I though and still do.

I don't know if you can still get a new one or not, but they turn up on the used markert often. The 10/22 DSP has the same size/style stock in walnut with the shorter carbine length barrel in blue.

Someone else mentioned the Ruger 77/22. I like it better than I do the CZ on looks. I've never shot a CZ, I just don't like the way they look so I've never wanted one.

The Marlin 39, and the Remington 552, and 597 are good full sized 22's also.

I agree. It's CZ for me too. In .22 rimfire caliber I have 6 CZs and 4 BRNOs and every one of them has a slightly different feel, but still familiar and still seem to fit perfectly somehow. If I had to cut back to just one CZ :( :( :( it'd be the Trainer (a.k.a. Lux w/beechwood stock), or the Full Stock.

Another vote for the Weatherby Mark 22. Beautiful gun and it looks and feels like a fine quality rifle.

The 597 is nice too, and you can buy 3 or 4 of them for the cost of a used Weatherby. Install the Volquartsen target hammer upgrade, it's under $40 and makes a huge difference in the trigger pull. Also the factory gray plastic stock feels cheap, but Boyd's has an inexpensive upgrade for that if it bothers you.

I have this too...and would agree. The Hogue feels great, but it is pretty light.

My father-in-law has a Marlin 22 mag bolt with a nice medium/heavy barrel and a nice wood stock with raised cheek. It feels much more like a real hunting 22.

My favorite 22LR rifle is a humble Marlin 60 in a Boyd's stock. The aftermarket stock added to the total cost of the package, but I'm still less than $400 into the rifle and it fits me well.

I have dozens of .22 rifles including 10/22s, lots of old Remingtons and Marlins of all types. Just bought a new Remington 597 with a heavy barrel at a chain sports store last week for $211 out the door. It has a full sized stock and is an adult sized rifle. The 16" bull barrel is not too heavy and nicely balances the rifle. Trigger pull was 3.5lbs out of the box and the thing is tack driver. Came with a cheap scope but is probably the best bang for the buck I've run across in a long time. I was very impressed. full review is here www.nylonrifles.com

25 meter 5 shot group from prone using a sling and CCI Blazer ammo. The black is one inch square.

They also make the 597 with a longer tapered barrel with or with out sights.

I'd say a Ruger 10/22 with one of the nicer stocks, like an International or Deluxe. The Wal Mart specials are very similar if you can find one.
