Why has this not been done yet the Glock 21 even in its SF form is to big for most peoples hands, and the 45 GAP hasn't caught on much. I'd say a g21 size gun with an 8 round single stack magazine would be a big seller.

It probably wouldn't be a big seller. I bet Glock has done the market research.

There was a recent post on Glocktalk, with respect to this. An attendee at a dual armorer and advanced armorer's course in GA was given info at the course that a "large US LEO agency" is interested in single stack Glock .45 ACP.

Kinda of a high price point for only a 7 round .45 isnt it?
Not really...just look at the Wilson CQB Compact, Nighthawk Custom T3, and Les Baer Stinger; at $2k + THOSE are expensive 7 round .45 pistols. The Kahr on the other hand is pallateable. Hell, the Sig P220R Compact is a 6+1 .45 and it lists for $1,050.

There's always the FNP-45, M&P45, HK45, (snip)... XD45, etc., etc.
None of which are single stack .45s... which is what this thread is about.

As to the OP's question, It's doubtful whether Glock would be able to make the entire rifle much slimmer than, say, the G36 (the existing single stack .45 ACP Glock), which isn't much slimmer than the G30 or G21. If it's not quite a bit slimmer, there's no point in making it, IMO. The number of people whose hands are not accommodated by the G21SF or G30SF is very small, in relative terms. Plenty of women handle full-sized Glocks with aplomb.

I'm sure there is a market, as threads like this pop up every so often, but I doubt it would be worth Gaston's time. He's too busy stirring the Kool-aid.:D

I was thinking in terms of the polys and the 1911's when i was typeing my response.I shouldve been more clear when i responded.Of course when it comes to the 1911's thats a different matter.

Isn't the G36 pretty much the same size as a 1911? Seems I remember comparing them at a shop a few years back and immediately ruled out the G36 as a "Sub Compact." Seemed at least the size of an Officer's Model.

A 7-round (in the magazine) gun the overall size of a G19, or an 8-round the size of a G17, would be a very appealing gun to me. :) (The G36, while a rental did shoot well for me, needs another round and has design oddities that I don't care for.) If chambered for .45 Auto only, without a counterpart in 10mm, the slide could be the same width, slimming it down considerably over the G21. Of course, .45 Auto was more appealing to me when a box of ammo was a ten-spot. :(

If your hand is too small for a double-stack .45, then the logical thing to do is to get a doublestack 40 or 9mm. The great single stack 1911 is popular because it's amazing man-jewelry with a great history, a match trigger, and has many shooting events geared towards it - not because it's the most logical use of space and weight for a combat handgun.

That's why Glock, XD, M&P, FNP, etc don't come in that version. They can't compete with the 1911 in those regards. Even the excellent SIG P220 pales in comparison to the numbers of 1911's. The 1911 has the gun-game market and the aftermarket accessories in place.

But then I don't get why Glock made the single stack .45 GAP pistol.

.45 gap is going away soon, simple math. demand down, tooling and distribution costs up........ etc...........
like it was said previously, there realy aren't that many people with hands that are too small to shoot a wide glock. Of course there are some, but really, statistically, those who want to own a large capacity .45 glock will buy them and learn to shoot them, just fine.

i second the single stack g19. I am stuck with ten round mags anyway. And we all might be sooner or later. Instead of a shorter, but still wide, profile of the g26, a slimmer g19 would compete well with the the new sr9 etc...Its the perfect gun for me except i have about .25 of width wasted with a ten round cap.

Give me a 8 round capacity but only 1.0 wide id trade into one in a heart beat..

No, that's the wrong way to look at it. I an not stuck with 10 round mags. And one day, you might not, either. :)
