Fun Combo League

Regular, competitive summer league is over. Now is time to play and try new stuff. Combo league is a fun extension of shooting season with a round of trap and one of skeet. No trophies, awards or celebrations, just good natured trash talk, encouragement and fun.
I'm shooting a different gun each week for trap and having a blast. So far. 1100, my TB, my brothers TC. 24, 23, 25. Skeet I will have to use some of four guns twice, but can switch some barrels around. 1100 i.c. barrel, 1100 skeet barrel, TB remchoke I.c. barrel. Classic Trap skeet barrel.
To come: M12 Cutts, skeet spreader, M12, I.c., Ithaca 100, Stoeger Double Defense 20. Haven't figured out the rest yet.
I'm betting my trap average isn't far off my summer average (95%). Not being any kind of skeet shooter, I'm happy so far with my 22/25 average.

Fun targets, our club is having it's Club Championship shoot this coming weekend, 25 trap targets, 25 skeet targets, 25 sporting clay targets, and 25 shooter's choice for the high score out of 100 to be the yearly club champ. A large traveling trophy is awarded and bragging rights. I have won in the past several times but we have some pretty good up and coming young shooters that are real good.

Sounds cool. I've often thought of running an all around club shooter championship including trap, pistol, slug, deer gun, slug and archery events. Got more planning to do.

This is the time of year I prefer live birds. Got a pheasant/chukar hunt coming up in a couple weeks.......

Combo league sounds like a lot of fun.. Sort of like the Saturday morning Sporting Clays thing I do. Good group of guys, no score keeping, no awards, etc. Just the good natured fun and trash talk. This was my first year doing it on a regular basis and I got lots of encouragement and instruction from guys who are a lot better than I am at this game. It seems to have paid off well for me as I'm now hitting on a lot of the stations that used to seem almost impossible. Not only have I got better but it was a blast doing it.

Week 4 is in the books. Trap scores with four guns: 24, 23, 25, 24. New skeeters barrel for my 1100 did well with a 24 last night. Skeet, 20, 24, 21, 24. Going to shoot ahead Sat. as we are traveling. 870 Classic Trap and my M12 with Cutts. We are having a ball.

Shot ahead for week five. 870 Classic Trap, 23, 1100 skeet barrel, 24.
Week six I will use an old mint Wingmaster with 28" full barrel and my M12, Cutts, skeet spreader tube.
More fun than an old guy should be allowed to have.
