Sorry, I did some price checking on the Kel-tec SU-16. It looks like they are in the $400-$500 range for NIB. At least that is internet prices, if you have a good gunshop that will order one for dealer+markup, or you can find a used one(try the forums) you might find one close to $300.

what are these NEFS and where do you get them?

Ive heard them mentioned in several threads yet have not seen any to my knowledge anyone have any pictures of them.

Just incase sorry for Hijack.

Hi Point carbines in 9 or 40 are darn fun guns. Easy to shoot, accurate, scopeable and reliable. For 140 to 200, you can't beat them.

Well, I am leaning towards the hi-pont with the (thank GOD!) beautiful new ATI stock just because it's a little more "Tacti-cool" (I'm 16 so this matters!) and I was wanting to get a lever-action .22 so I can really go all out "rifleman" style, and not break the bank with ammo costs, but I'll leave that for christmas when I might be able to afford it.

However, i'll stick to the irons on the hi-point (I seem to be the only one doing that) because I'm just not an optics kinda guy.

But if I can find a good price on a used SU-16........oooo those are so nice!

That said, later on down the road I might see if I can scrounge up some cash before my trip (I have just under a year to save and I work about 25 hours a wk. at 5.50/hr) and get me a lever action centerfire, because those do look fun.

Thank you all for the help......now c'mon GUNSHOW!

Owned by Marlin, manufactures single shot rifles and shotguns, as well as a few others. Most gunshops have at least one or two lying around.

the conversion on the gun cost about 150-200 so i guess al together it was like 400 with price of gun and conversion

My votes are
Ruger 10/22 (for the cheap ammo and extensive accessories)
Schmidt-Ruben K31 (because it's fun, accurate, and has a big bang)
SKS (cheaper to feed than the K31, semi-auto, loading from stripper clips can be fun)

I have the ATI stock on my hi-point. I love it. it didn't fit right while putting it all together at first, but I just reemed out the holes a bit with a screwdriver. it's alot more durable that the nasty looking stock it comes with. it has a much better feel. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who owns a hi-point. better look, better feel, and much more sturdy. when I take friends to the range, they always want me to bring the hi-point. it's loads of fun to shoot. ammo is very inexpensive as well.

I'm not too great at giving reports... but hey, I tried.
