I put nipples on one of my deepened ROA cylinders today. It allowed some interesting loads -

50g 3f 777 under a round ball.
25g 3f 777 under TWO round balls. This was pretty cool. It still had enough power to put both of them through a 2x4.
40g 3f 777 under a lubed DD-ROA conical. The last two had to have their noses trimmed after they crept forward in the cylinder from firing the others.

I want to get some shot and see what I can work up for "buck and ball" loads.

Yes the 777 was getting compressed, especially with the 50g loads. I had zero misfires with Remington caps. The noise and recoil did vary a bit.

I was just blasting holes in boards from about 20ft so I can't comment on accuracy. No chrono either. Just goofing around. Pretty fun

Don't try this at home, etc etc :neener:

Clements did the chambers. I really want to get a chrono. Sure is fun playing with different loads and seeing the results right away.

I hope there's enough metal left on the cylinder such that the nipples don't blow out.

There's plenty of metal left, all the nipple threads. I'll try to get some pics.

50 grains wasn't as strong as I thought. Likely because the roundball is fairly easy to get moving. The 40g under the conicals kicked pretty good.

50 Grains of 'compressed' 777 might not be as strong as 50 grains packed well but not compressed, also.

I may be misguided but using black powder or any black powder substitutes, stuffed with as much of it as you can get in it and any amount of lead you can make on top of it....you can't blow up am ROA.

So, goofy project number 12 will be to use my jig to HP my 150 gr BigLube bullet stacked on top of a 120 grain full wadcutter. Then use a bevel based 120 grain or so full wadcutter, Maybe cast, maybe swaged, underneath it.

should be 10 times harder to work than just squishing a couple of RB's in. but..what the hey. Now to find a full smaller .45 WC. my have to swage it.

40 gr. of 777 under a 220 gr. slug will get yer attention! Lotsa fun for the demented. I fired off several cylinders of various levels of BP excitement several days ago. The (Sacred) Black at thirty gr. under the slug really did smell up the front yard, but took too long to recover between shots 'cause the powder smoke took too long to dissipate. The 777 still smokes, but not as bad, plus it's a lot cleaner. I have a rebated cylinder from Classic Ballistics that will take the compressed load of 40 gr. under the aforementioned 220 gr. slug with enough clearance that if there is "bullet creep" from the firing forces, it is negligible. I love my ROA!

Gone off deep end of deepened ROA Cylinder

So, in the bizarre order I've done here with gun and ammo loads. (loads only here)

1) Had Clements Deepen an ROA cylinder and chamfer them a bit.
Trying all kinds of powders and caps.

2) Bought BigLube EPP_UG 150 gr and DD/PUK ROA-II 45 210 RNFP molds

3) I then bought a hollow point Jig that works great in my drill press but is a little slow and causes some variation in weight when I speed up.
Allows me to use different size cavities depending
what counter sink bit I use. Sounds like a big deal but I always use the biggest cavity anyway.

4) Now, I sent my BigLube DD/PUK ROA-II 45 210 RNFP and had Erik at Hollow Point Bullet Service do an insert bar HP mold conversion on 3 of the 6 cavities of the mold. (It looks fantastic) I haven't tried it yet.

5) Now for the latest looney part. I'm looking at having a swage die made made. It would be .454 full wadcutter. I could vary weight and length at will.

6) Why do it? Because I can. I'd like to HP the BigLube 150 and stack it on top a 120gr WC with about 30 gr T7's and play with different combinations of all of this stuff...just to see.
