Fusion 1911 kit question

The Fusion seems a little high for a standard .45 ACP. As mentioned in earlier posts, the Colt seems a better deal. However, I was checking out their 10mm 1911 with a long slide on the site. I think I may have to save up for another project:).

SO, you are saying she would rather have a Dan Wesson, Springfield or Rock Island entry level 1911 then a real Colt 1911?

no,

Just the opposite. She occasionally drinks a sip of Colt Kool-Aid so I think she would probably prefer the Colt even though the Dan Wesson would probably be superior

A fusion Kit requires quite a few parts added into it, and it ends up being just a bit cheaper then having them build the gun. My Fusion 1911 is one sweet gun tho... Wouldent trade it for any other 1911 lately.

I personally would not go for the kit. I enjoy tinkering with guns, replacing parts, small repairs, etc. To put together a 1911 from a kit could be quite a project making sure all the parts fit and work well together. If you get it completed and have problems afterwards, that would be a real dissapointment. (Don't ask me how I know)

I would go for the Colt as the top-shelf choice for your price range and reccommend a Rock Island GI for the entry-level "retro" model.

I have both and they have been very reliable weapons, no problems with either of them.

Next time you are at a gun show take a look at both, mayby one will do the trick.

might think about commander size in case she wants to get her ccw license when she is old enough also s&w makes a nice 1911 for right around 850 mine has been perfect. great gift for her though

+1 on the RIA. I love mine. You can replace parts as you feel needed. Even though it isnt necessary for it to be a reliable and accurate gun that will shoot for tens of thousands of rounds.
