Future for my DSA StG 58A muzzle brake

I dislike the noise enhancing properties of the muzzle brake on my DSA StG 58. Should I replace it with one of the unvented fake flash suppressors; cut the muzzle brake and threaded section of the barrel off; or, sell it as is and buy a DSA without a muzzle brake? I figure any modifications to the rifle will require a complete refinishing job, so all options will cost a bit of money. That is not a consideration.
