Hello,
Trolling :neener: for opinions on what will happen with Saiga rifles now that EAA has stopped importing them. Will another importer pick them up?

I am trying to decide whether or not to buy a few magazines for my .308, just in case. At about $50 a mag, it is not an easy decision, but I sure don't want to get stuck with a rifle with only a single mag. That old saw about "1 is none, and 2 is one" keeps running through my head. If something happens to the mag, anybody want to buy a single shot AK?

Regards,
Hammerhead

P.S. I didn't grind the dealer on price when I bought the rifle, or even ask him to throw in a box of ammo. I asked him one question, "Can you get mags for this?" He said yes. Period. I go see him less than a week later, and now he can't find any mags for it :fire: :cuss: .

Dim.......

Too many High cap rifles available. Too many SKS's available for 10 rounders. Maybe if they would have started importing some of the 22 inch barrel 308s.

When I heard about the problem I went to the EAA website and bought a couple more magazines for my .223. If you go to the Saiga forum:
http://forum.saiga-12.com/

you will find people coming up with all sorts of magazine fixes, from dremel massacre, to slide-in adaptors for other high-caps, to one guy who is tooling up to manufacture new mags (in .308).

Didn't the rifle come with 2 mags?

They are currently working on getting a new importer. And i believe they found one, it just takes time for the paperwork to go through.

Hello,
Thanks for the replies, folks. I am glad to hear that Saiga is going to be imported again. It seems like a nice rifle, and I have read good things about them. Who is the new importer? Or is that to be announced?

I am not real comfortable about naming the dealer. Maybe he found out mags were scarce after I asked him to find some for me, so I don't want to tarnish his reputation unfairly. But I will be doing my homework a bit more carefully in the future!

Regards,
Hammerhead

The new importer is Russian American Armory, which seems odd since EAA is European American Armory. Maybe they're connected in some way. The new Saiga will be coming in around summer time.

Since questions are being asked...

I want to get another Biathlon Basic rimfire. Obviously EAA isn't going to stock them. Will the new Saiga importer carry the rimfire rifle line, too?
