have you guys ever caught something in a future weapons episode that you called bs on?

i just watched the 6.5 grendal episode and when he's shooting the steel sillouette he aims the 5.56 rounds lower (crotch area) so it doesn't knock the plate over.

then for he ak he hits it in the arm area (where the arm would be) so it falls over one shot.

then for the grendal he hits it in the shoulder area.

when he shoots the through the watermelon into the cinder block, the cinder block is ALREADY BROKEN before the shot and after the shot they show that it's pieces are missing, where it already broke before the shot. what a surprise....

anyone else notice any of these?

But his voice... it just makes everything sound so cool...

I didn't much care for the .416 Barrett episode.

They shot at two targets placed at ~1,000 meters. They shot the .50 BMG version of the rifle at one target a bunch with crappy trigger control and flinching and Surprise! didn't have very good shot placement. Then for the .416 Barrett they fired one round into the other target, exercising great discipline. And wouldn't ya know it, the first shot was right on target.

I just cant handle the host of the show, one could almost play a drinking game with the show (take a shot every time he mentions he was a SEAL sniper). And what is up with the constant whispering?

He just annoys me sooooooooo much. If he would just talk normally, I could stomach the show so much better.

Mike

I like the AA-12 episode where the guy goes on and on about how the weapon's solid steel construction eliminates the possibility of any jams...

Then as he's firing it, he has to clear a jam on the last round.

The whispering is all about the conspiratorial atmosphere: You know, he's sharing these operator secrets with just you and 50 million other viewers.......

My wife caught every one of them.

So I wasn't the only one who saw that. I thought it looked like it jammed, but I wasn't positive. Now there's another person to back me up who saw the same thing

Mail Call is much cooler.

(R. Lee doesn't whisper)

Agreed! R. Lee "The Gunny" Ermey is the MAN!

He did the same with MP5 and KRISS SMG.

Some of these shows are just getting silly. Not just Futureweapons, but I even saw one (I think the show itself was GI Factory) about the Dillon minigun. They were going WAY overboard with secrecy:

"We can't tell you where this place is."
"This is all we're showing you of the owner for secrecy."
"We can't say where these guns are going, but they use phrases like 'downrange' and 'in the sandbox.'"

Oh please. Give me a break. Do a WHO IS search on dillonaero.com and you'll find out not only the address of the factory, but you'll get sat imagery of the place (interesting how one side of the factory is the road, the other is a taxiway to a small airport; that's convenient.

And then there was some show talking about the latest and greatest in bonded metal bullets, and how it somehow knew if it was hitting flesh or something else. Riiiiiiiight. Or the OICW brick of a weapon.

They're amusing, but I don't watch them for realistic and factual info.

My favorite was when he was showing the 7.62 round that an AK47 and he held up a .308 Win. You would think that since he was a SEAL SNIPER he would know the difference. Maybe that's why he's a former SEAL sniper.

+1 Calhoun. That episode made me wonder if he really was a SEAL. It seems to me that any gunnie should know the difference between a 7.62X39 and a 7.62X51 round. The idea of the show is neat but I cant stand to watch it.

agreed. I noticed when he talks to other living people on the show, he sounds like a normal person, but when he narrates, or explains something to the viewing audience, he has to sound like he has IBS, and he's holding back a big log that's going to brick in his pants.

Oh yes! I remember him talking about a halftrack once with quad 50's for anti-aircraft use and they show it shooting at night, just lighting the sky up with tracers. And R. Lee says "I'd sure like to squeeze off some rounds with that baby. GEEEET SOME!"
He's the best, my wife hates those gun shows but she likes him.

Yeah, I've caught the flubs, especially the shot placement ones.
That was pretty bad.
Sometimes I like the show, sometimes I don't. Some of the tech has a wow factor, and it's neat to watch stuff blowing up in slow motion.
Oh, and the whisper that "Mack" puts on for the show...Think about it, it could be funny in some situations. Jeez, could you imagine him and R. Lee Ermey having a conversation?!

"What the hell is your malfunction there whisper boy?!?!"

"Nothing sir, Shhhhh...I'm hunting insurgent wabbits."
