Why is it that in nearly every scope (I have one that is much clearer than most) I have owned that the horizontal crosshair will never focus correctly? I can adjust the eye piece and focus the vertical wire perfectly but the other remains blurred. I can rotate the scope and make the once clear wire blurry and vice versa. I have bad eyes and require glasses but with them I can see fine. I'm assuming its a stigmatism problem but can anybody explain whats happening and can I fix it?

Heron is right...you probably have astigmatism. It will make a focus axis rather than a point.

Well, I didn't really think it was the scope but was more interested in what was going on with my eyes to create the image and if it could be fixed. I'm going to research astigmatisms and such some more. Thanks guys!

I have astigmatism in my dominate eye :(

I have a similar problem as you do. I have a hard time getting the cross hairs crisp with glasses that correct for astigmatism.

But more of a problem is that I can either get the the vertical straight up and down and the horizontal not level or visversa. It's annoying but I manage to do alright. I settle for having the vertical cross hair straight up and down and ignore the slope of the horizontal as I have found that works best for me. That's why I'm not much of a bench-rest shooter as it really tires my eye dealing with the astigmatism looking through the scope for long periods of time.
