Group announces grand opening for new gun range

After seven years, the Ridgecrest Gun Range Association is pleased to announce a Grand Opening Ceremony at the new Ridgecrest Gun Range, Monday, Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. This is the first public range to be built in California in nearly a quarter of a century.
This range was made possible by dedication and funds from many local people and by grants of over $82,000 from the Friends of the NRA. Kern County First District Supervisor, Jon McQuiston, who was instrumental in getting this range approved by the county, will be the guest of honor at the ceremony.
McQuiston, Friends of the NRA Central California District Director, Daryl Amble, and RGRA President, Thomas Wiknich, will lead shooters in a first volley to signal the official opening. All local shooters are invited to join in this first volley. Bring your firearm and one round of ammo to participate. RGRA Range Masters will strictly enforce all standard range safety rules. All Federal and state laws will apply. The site, on 170 acres of property at the intersection of Brown Road and Wiknich Road, is one of the largest privately owned shooting ranges in California.
The board of the non-profit organization, consisting of representatives from local clubs and the public, oversees management. One of these clubs, the Sierra Desert Gun Club, will hold its opening in conjunction with the Grand Opening. Another club, the Robber's Roost Vigilantes, will demonstrate cowboy action shooting at their area.
