I want to add the optics to my PTR-91 (a G3 semi-auto copy) since I got a little bored just using the iron sight, and the accuracy of this rifle is really promissing.

I am looking for a low profile mount since I don't like the original claw mount which is sitting too high over the bore. I googled this kind of mount but found that lots of the result are related to airsoft  , like the "Classical Army". I want to buy a good solid mount. Are these airsoft mount tough enough withstanding the recoil of the real firearm? If not, please suggest me a place where I could find the real mount. I want to spend about $50 on this mount. I'd like to have an extended version so I could mount the scope a little forward to use the similar cheekweld as when using iron sight.

By the way, do I need to buy a hight ring when mount the scope on this mount to clear of the rear iron sight on my PTR-91?

Thanks,

Sometimes all the airsoft stuff gets in the way of finding stuff for real guns. Do not buy anything intended for an airsoft gun.

H&K style claw mounts are available from a few different sources. B-Square makes one, as do others. You might want to look around JLD Enterprises website.

For a low-profile mount though, take a look at the Brugger & Thomet line of mounts and such on DSA's website. They offer several low profile mounts for G3-type rifles. They're spendy, though.

your best bet would be the B&T mounts if you don't like the claw mount. IMO every other mount available is either poorly manufactured or will leave marks the on finish of your rifle.

B&T is surely nice, but the price is too! I just want to buy a mount to try optics on my PTR-91, and was not so serious at this time to burn a hole in my wallet for this.:) Like I said, $50 is my budget for this.

Do I need to go high ring to clear of the rear iron sight?

Thanks,

I believe it was Sportsman's Guide or Cheaper than Dirt or one of their ilk in the discount catalogs that had a very decent B&T knockoff for < $50.

Look around. I've had mine for quite a while and it transitioned from a Greek SAR-8 to my Vector V51 SBR.

It holds zero and works just fine.
