I tested a g34 a range yesterday. When i first got it the feed ramp was the most dirty I've seen so i just cleaned it with my thumb. And the first round it went bang but then it fte and loaded a fresh round part way, I then did a malfunction drill and tried again same thing happened. Now I have exp. with glocks i love them, I'm looking at getting a g34 but have never tried one tell now and was not pleased. i talked to the RM and he did a very quick clean, the gun looked like it hadn't been cleaned the last 10,000 rounds. but i had 100% reliability after that.... now I'm by no means a great shot but i can shoot, I've shot the past 6 years now but i had a ten shot group of about 7inches.... If any one could tell me if this is typical behaviour that'd be much aappreciated

What do you normally shoot for groups? You say you've been shooting for six years, so you should have some reference as to whether those are good groups (for you).

If this is a rental gun, it might simply be dogged out.

For a Glock 34 at 25 yards, that would be a big group IMO. 4" would be my guess as to the average at 25 yards.

not at the ranges I've been at. "all the way back there?!?!" as i hear out of some stalls, they'd be lucky to keep it in 8" pie plate... ;)

8yds was the range and i shot a one inch group same distance with two in one hole with an xd

The G34 I used to have shot 7 inch or better 10 shot groups at 100 yards.

Maybe it just needs an overnight soak in Shooter's Choice to get the 10,000 rounds worth of copper fouling out of the barrel.

Just my .02,

yea, shoudlnt be happening, may be you, may not i dont know, i know at 8 yards my old G34 was making all touching holes on the target

not characteristic at all. my gf shot better groups than that with a g19 her second time shooting.

when you say "gave it a quick clean", did he clean the barrel? did you inspect the barrel to see if it was severely worn?

No it's not me, my dad shot bad with it too, like i said i had 2 stove pipes in a row first few shots. the gun must have been dirty and pos

thanks for the help. no he didn't clean the barrel just lubed the rails and wiped th fead ramp.

Doesn't sound as if there is any rifling in the barrel for the bullet to catch. very dirty gun. They aren't like that at all if you clean them a little. All 3 of my glocks are very accurate.

+1 on copper fouling as a possible problem.
You didn't mention the type and brand of ammunition used.

My G34 groups to match grade standards with match grade ammunition.

accuracy should be better than that. the barrel probably needs to be cleaned. if the lock up isn't that great, it would need a new barrel.

You said it needed some major cleaning - believe it or not, Glocks do occasionally need some scrubbing once in a while. Especially if "When i first got it the feed ramp was the most dirty I've seen so i just cleaned it with my thumb."

Scraping a few years' worth of dried gunpowder off the feed ramp means that you'd have to do the same with the barrel AND the extractor (hmm, fails to eject? yeah, that extractor might be crusted over).

Try shooting a clean one.

My Glock G34 shoots 2 inch 10 round groups at 15 yards, stock it has a 4.5 lb trigger but now has a 3.5 lb. I have no feeding issues it is what I shoot in USPSA production division. Your dissmal pattern may be excessive residue in the striker mechanism as the trigger pull has to complete the tension on the striker so it has the force to fire the round. I would bet the trigger pull was a lot harder than it should have or would be if it was your pistol. I love my G34 it shoots much better than my Beretta 92f, and as well as my much heavier CZ 75B.

Ya it was just a rental but I stripped I and the barrel did have some junk in it thanks a bunch guys. Does any body have any secret dealers that sell them cheap??

That's not a very accurate gun. Dirty barrel, damaged crown or lockup not tight anymore.

You just need to shop around a little. There are enough people selling Glocks. If you're military/fire/ems, I think you might be able to get a discount. Might want to check into that.
