G34 has a 3.5 trigger?!?!?

Hmmm.... My 34 has a 3.5 connector. Where can I find a 3.5 trigger? ;)

I was actually interested in the 5" XD9 shortly after I got my G34. I think the big reason was the cheaper high cap price compared to the Glock. I'll still probably get one because I like having choices.

Since I never commented on the old thread... the thing I just fail to get with the whole XD vs Glock thing is, they are so similar... of course, most folks will prefer one over the other, and maybe I'm just either jaded or easy to please, but they are similar enough in my experience to think that all personal biases aside, they are both excellent choices.

My gut instinct would be to say that brand new 4" HDs are cheaper than brand new Glock 19s and 23s... If budget is a primary concern, I'd certainly consider the XD over the Glock. With the smallest guns, the G26/27 feel more natural in my hand and when shooting than the subcompact XDs so I'd lean towards Glock in this segment though my experience is limited with the XDs. On the larger tactical guns, I'd start to lean back towards Glock as the aftermarket for race type accessories is basically limitless.

But all this is simply my impression... To the guys that seem to think that a Glock will blow up immediately upon removing it from the case, that's just silly... To the guys that think that the XD will somehor survive a nuclear attack and not even lose it's zero, that's just silly as well. Folks that would exclude the XD because it's price has gone up, that's the king of silly.

They are both among the finest choices of carry guns for people that embrace polymer guns, regardless of your preferences. The overwhelming majority of folks that buy an XD or a Glock and only shoot factory loaded copper clad ammo will have very few problems with their gun and those problems that do come along will be fixed quickly if you refrain from insulting the company when you talk to them about your problem.

I thought those comments on the XD only worth $275, etc., were extinct, but I guess not. Makes me wonder if there are still some Japanese soldiers hiding out in the Phillippine jungle! One just as clueless as the other. :D

If you really want to read all about it, don't bother going to GlockTalk. Go to 1911 Forum. Take your choice out of the thousand or so "Kimber vs. Springfield Loaded" threads, then replace Kimber and Springfield with Glock and XD. Then you can read longer. There are many more Kimber/SA threads available than Glock vs. XD and they all read about the same anyway!!

Personally, I'd be happy to own either although neither would be my first choice.

bicker bicker bicker...both are fine weapons that will shoot well and defend your life if need be...get the one that fits your hand, and your pocketbook.

If i listened to all of the nay-sayers when i bought my Steyr, I would have missed out on the favorite gun in my stable.

As a Glock G34 owner, I would choose the XD. For me, the XD grip angle is more comfortable and more inline with my other handguns. I've fired the XD and find the single action XD better than the G34. It doesn't feel as heavy probably because there isn't as much takeup. My G34 has been trouble free, but so has my Sigs, CZ, Hk, ...etc.

Try both and see what your hands fit better. We all got different tastes otherwise we'd all be married to Brooke Burke.

Having owned a Glock, and now owning an XD, I think the XD is a better weapon. The grip fits me much better than the Glock with its stupid finger grooves. God I hate those.

The ergonomics of the XD are better for me as well.

Its the exact oposite for me. My shooting buddy owns two XDs and I prefer my glocks grip angle and finger grooves by far. The Glocks poing more naturally and are much more comfortable for ME to shoot. Get the one that fits you best. In my opinion they are both good guns, with the glock edging out the XD.

I have never shot an XD, but have held one and they seem very comfortable. Having said that, I really like the midsize pre 3rd gen Glocks. I have a 2nd gen G19 and love it. My first Glock was a 3rd gen G22 w/ finger grooves and didn't really like it. I wish they made the Glocks without finger grooves but with the light rail.

My vote goes for the G34.

Glocks have way more factory and aftermarket stuff for them.

Glock 9mms have stood the test of two decades.

Glocks have slightly more intrinsic precision.

The XD is a good pistol, but seems a little gimmicky with the chamber loaded indicators, grip safeties, and all.

What it all boils down to is how a pistol shoots, and the G34 shoots LIGHTS OUT.

I own a Glock 34 and love it. Its awesome.

A XD40 is on my list of guns to acquire in the near future.

Bottom line is:
Both are great guns. Try them out and choose the one you like best. That simple.
