Dear Vote.com voter:

Unfortunately, Honorable Denise L.. Majette is one of a small number of Sentors and Representatives who refuse to receive e-mail from the people who elect him/her. If you feel strongly about this issue, you can call him/her at 202-224-3121. And please tell your Senator or Representative to get with it and get e-mail!

If you would prefer not to receive this type of mailing, please click the link below to unsubscribe:

(NOTE: If your e-mail software does not make the above links active, please copy & paste it into your web browser and press the Enter key.)

No, but why does that matter. I don't think email is a requirement to hold public office unless the state constitution has been changed.

She probably can't receive info by smoke signal or carrier pigeon either.

True, but smoke signals and carrier pigeons are no longer commonly accepted means of communication. E-mail is, and will continue to be, for the near future. People in business (or politics) these days don't last very long if they won't "Do" e-mail. If you refused to "Do" e-mail where I work, you would be gone in a day or two.

A politician should try to be accessible. But think about the kind of emails that probably flood the average politician's inbox every day:

You have 451 unread messages.

Subject: YOU SUCK
Subject: Save $$$ on your next car purchase
Subject: Free Viagra
subject: Refinance your home
Subject: u r stupid
Subject: CIA and the Greys control my mind
Subject: Nigerian business opportunity
Subject: free p0rn 4 you !!!!
Subject: go 2 hell u dick
Subject . . .

Etc. etc.

BEsides, snail mail shows that a person sat down and composed his thoughts more so than email. Sho shoot them off some regular postage.

That legislator needs to get with it.

I sort through my hundreds of porn/penis/general mtumba email daily to get to the one or two that mean anything. She has staffers to do the
sorting anyway.

I don't do snail mail anymore and haven't for almost a year now.
