Every one should try to hit this:

Log on to http://www.vote.com and vote on whether the Senate should pass an amendment banning the export of .50 caliber rifles to civilians.

We'll send your vote to Congress and the National Rifle Association..

I voted.
I noticed that the question itself is misleading:
How do you 'ban' the 'export' to 'citizens'? I am a citizen, but I don't import a rifle when I buy it. I don't import hamburger patties at the local Try'N'Save.

Done.

Interesting poll results:
Should Hillary promise to complete her full Senate term if re-elected?
Yes 78%
Should Condi run for president in the 2008 election?
Yes 63%

From this I would surmise that the voters have a very unfavorable view of Hillary as a presidential candidate, but are favorable toward Condi.

I clearly remember the 1990 election in Arkansas. Bill Clinton promised to complete his six year term if re-elected governor.

What shocked me over at the site above
was the vote count on renewing the "Patriot" Act. There I had to go
with the minority.

It's about being in the right, not being in the majority. :)

Here is the reply I got (BTW, I am NOT holding my breath that any of my Congress critters, Kennedy, Kerry, and Neal will pay any attention).

"Dear Vote.com voter:

You recently voted on the question: SHOULD THE SENATE PASS AN AMENDMENT BANNING THE EXPORT OF .50 CALIBER RIFLES TO CIVILIANS? Your vote of NO! has been mailed to:

Institute for Legislative Action ([email protected]), National Rifle Association
Honorable Edward M. Kennedy ([email protected]) (D), United States Senate
Honorable John F. Kerry ([email protected]) (D), United States Senate
The Honorable Richard E. Neal (http://www.house.gov/writerep/) (D), U.S. House of Representatives

If you feel strongly about this issue, we encourage you to ask your friends and family to vote on it at this link: http://www.vote.com/vote/60348389/index.phtml

If I may make a suggestion:

Do not click on the link above.

Instead, just copy and paste or type "vote.com" into your browser, as vote.com will see that many of the votes came from a gun site and then they will whine and cry that it was "unfairly skewed, attacked, etc." by us and they will throw it out.

Vote against both the 50cal ban & renewing the Patriot Act

More of us need to vote against renewing the Patriot Act.
It cures nothing, protects nothing, just puts more power and control into the bueracracy of a bigger goverment.

Standing Wolf...

If you share your E-mail address with vote.com, you'll never—ever!—stop receiving tons of spam.

And just what is your definition of spam? They have had my email address for quite a while and all I get from them is invitations to participate in various votes. And not that often.

I used a legitimate email that has long since been overrun by spam. Its good to keep a junker email address in case you need to register for something and it needs to send a "verification email" to your inbox that must be replied to, yet you know they'll sell your email to spammers. Just log on once a month and clean house.

Exactly. :p

I'll have to check this with someone who is more computer-savvy than I, but I think you are all wet. The most vote.com or anyone could do is identify your computer address and your internet-provider. After all, AFAIK, nothing you transmit would indicate "thehighroad.org", that's only a website, not whom you use for internet access.

And another thing, vote.com seems to be very neutral about the results of any vote. You may be confusing them with newspaper or media polls with seem to have more of an agenda.

Look up "referrer logs"; You've got a little snitch on your desk, that's continually telling websites you visit things that are "need to know", like what OS you're using, where you just came from, and so forth.

Vote.com's agenda usually shows up in the "more information" link. You'll notice that the anti gun side includes the usual crazy assertions, and the pro-gun side doesn't disagree with any of them?

Whats his name above me is right. Web sites know what page refered you to them in most cases. Of corse this can be masked and what not but I shant get into that.
