Concealed Carry Reciprocity Amendment:Immediate Action Needed

All my reps are on board already.:)

That's good news, but remember that some might still appreciate feedback from their constituants, regardless of some of the "conspiracy theories" of blocked Emails that some may spout.
Some politicians "DO" care about what the voters have to say...

dont see how this tramples on states rights... the states have been trampling on the peoples right as set forth in the 2nd amendment... and as prescribed by the US constitution, the federal government is attempting to prevent that...
Agreed. It doesn't seem any different than states being required to recognize marriage, drivers licenses, etc from other states, and neither of those is a constitutional right, whereas RKBA is (whether or not concealed carry is a right or privilege is debatable I guess, but really only if OC were allowed in every state already would I consider agreeing that concealing might be a privilege.Hard to agree still though, as the 2nd Amendment doesn't mention any method of carry, so I'd still disagree with CCW being a privilege, and only OC being the right, personally)

Either way, I personally hope this passes. I contacted my Reps earlier.

I'm asking because I'm stupid, but does this mean that a person with a ccw in ANY state must have that ccw recognized by every other state? ...

"My amendment will not federalize concealed carry permits but simply requires concealed carry permits to be recognized in other states that allow concealed carry permits," Vitter said. (emphasis mine)

It boggles my mind that people complain, question, and sit on the sidelines on this sort of thing.

Heck no, you're not going to get everything you want. Get over it.

Let's move forward with something that provides us with SOME benefit now.
We can ask for more, the next time, and the next time.

If you are sitting around waiting for a pony for Christmas, you might not even get invited to Thanksgiving dinner.

W.E.G. my friend, you are not alone in your disbelief.
This proposed amendment has the potential to be a great victory for CCW and yet I have had to bump this thread up off of page two 4 times already.

How may from Mich. got this canned response from Stab-em-now, Leavim Levin didn't bother responding. At least her reply hasn't changed in 6 years nor has Karl bothered responding for at least that long. Maybe with Detroit being vacated by voters we can replace both of them.

Thank you . . .

. . for contacting me about gun control. I understand your concerns.

I grew up in Clare, Michigan, and many in my family are avid hunters and fishermen. I felt very comfortable growing up with guns in our home and I understand the importance of legal and safe gun ownership. I do not support any efforts to take guns away from law-abiding citizens, but I do support enforcement of laws that prevent minors and criminals from illegally purchasing guns.

My goal is to protect the rights of law abiding citizens, while recognizing the need to protect our children and our families from gun violence and other criminal activity. If we work together, I believe common sense will prevail.

Should related gun control legislation come before the Senate for a vote, I will keep your views in mind.

Thank you again for sharing your views with me. Please continue to keep me informed about issues that are important to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Debbie Stabenow

United States Senator

Sherrod Brown (D-OH) is a staunch anti but his office always replies to my emails on these issues. They have a standard set of talking points they customize and taylor for their replies, but somebody does clearly read the mail - it's not all form.

This time I replied to all the talking points and advised my vote for his candidacy for the next term would be identical to his vote on this issue. No response at all on that! Ha!

I don't mind the bumping. I'd imagine there are quite a few like me that sent stuff to our congress critters, but didn't post in the thread.

Here's the typical response from a politician. This happened to be from Senator Stabenow.

Thank you . . .
