Most stores won't accept returned of ammo. Liability you might have messed with the ammo .
As for recalled manufacture should handle that for you . I have done a exchange with one . They paid all shipping
That doesn't really make a difference. The store has already sold it. They've already transferred it to the buyer. Whether or not you've left the store isn't really an issue. If you have a problem with it - take it up with the manufacturer. Most decent firearms manufacturers will fix any defect or handle any recalls. Heck in general I don't mind most recalls particularly on handguns as it usually means that I'm going to get a free mag or other accessory out of the ordeal.
So, combining the two threads into one thought... Your dad purchased a firearm and ammunition from Gander Mountain... before leaving the store, but after purchasing, somehow found out they were both under recall.. then the gun fell apart (How? shouldn't it be in a box or case.. I've never seen a Gander Mountain let you walk out gun in hand)
You would be hard pressed to find a store that would accept a return on ammo even if you bought it right in front of them and never left their sight. I have always found it easier to shoot or scrap ammo than deal with a manufacture recall.
Looking at his older posts, seems like the quality of said posts took a nose dive. Funny, that back in October of 2013, he much more eloquently discussed a similar topic of a chain store knowingly selling a particular gun that was under recall.
I'm thinking these discrepancies might be explained, if the account was started by the current posters dad, and now the kid is posting.
