like the black/chrome contrast, even though i dont car for the dragonov stock.

The price is right at $225 and comes with crome duckbill mag :)

Wow thats interesting. I might want something like that someday but right now the ammo for my SKS is few and far between so ill hold off on the chrome one.

:what: ROFL, If the sun hits it the right way you won't even need ammo!
you'd have some trouble sneaking around the woods with that:D

With the regular stock, it doesn't look that bad. Would I ever do it though? Nope!

The Russian and Chinese honour guard use chrome plated SKS' but theres only a few of these in the US.

Heres the Chinese one curtesy of simonov.net

That's pretty spiffy, really. I like the wood/chrome contrast.

While it's not exactly my cup of tea, I do think it's
kinda cool, in an odd way. Viva le difference, no?

Yeah, yeah chrome, gold, nickel, whatever--- but I guess the question you have to ask yourself is are you buying this because you want something that just looks cool or are you really really into SKS's? If the latter, my complements, but if you want a quality combat rifle just like beerslurpy mentioned, nothing will substitute a parkerized combat ready AK-47- anything else in this genre is for well-- you know-- the chrome plating. If you want my true opinion-- style has nothing to do with combat ready-- combat has nothing to do with style, it's pure function, can you gain fast target acquisition w/o problems-- does the rifle fit your physicque, and bottom line-- can you fire it with accurate skill?

Medic, you are whack. That thing is the shizznit - you break that thing out people know you got street cred. They be diving for cover - who cares how it shoots?

What's target acquisition?

When i saw the title of the thread I thought "Oh, know, gotta be one messed up SKS"..But, you know I don't think it looks all that bad...Better than some of the nightmares that I've seen in the name of "customizing".

I don't mind it. Hard chrome isn't just for bling - more so it's a functional enhancement IMO. The bling is secondary to it's function as a premier gun finish. Want a gun you can throw in the back of your truck and neglect - use a hard chromed SKS. What could be more durable than that?

I don't think it looks all that bad really...with the wood stock at least. I think it would look better if it were less shiny, like an NP3 finish or brushed.

Would I buy it or do that to one? Well, let's just say there are a gazillion things I would buy and do to the guns I already own before I bought that SKS or did the same thing to one.

SKS = Shiznit Khrome Simonov.
That said, I do like the chrome vs. wood contrast. However I suspect my first SKS will be of the plain jane yugo or albanian variety.
"Bring Bring" Good one Skunkabilly.
