Garand Match - Florida

Does anyone know of any matches coming up in florida that are garand matches. I am new to shooting the garand and would love to try it out in a competitive setting. Would also like to be able to purchase an M1 from CMP but from I understand you have to shoot in some sort of match. I leave in Jacksonville Florida. Thanks in advance....

The NRA has a publication Shooting Sports USA that lists matches all over the country.
Florida has a shooters organization which may be called United Sportsmen of Florida, (or something similar). I think they might list matches too. HTH.

Check the CMP website for requirements. I believe they will take any LEO, Ex-GI, CCW, range membership or a signed note from a range officer stating you have fired.

Garand Match in JAX

March 29th at Gateway R&P Club. $25/members and $35/non-members. Sponsor (Marine Corps League, I think) supplies ammo-35 rounds. First shot downrange at 9 AM.

You're from Florida? If you have a Florida Concealed Handgun License, you satisfy the "active shooter" requirement. Beyond that, the requirements are just for minimum age, US citizenship, membership in a CMP-affiliated club or state organizaton, and ability to pass a NICS check, and you're good to go.

Best act sooner rather than later, as the CMP is now reputedly going through what might be the last batch of Garands that will ever become available. They have thousands of rifles left to sort through and grade, but demand is high . . . at best, unless something turns up unexpectedly, another couple of years and they'll be all gone.
