Anybody here have one of these Holbrook Devices on their Garand?? I'd be interested to find out any feedback that you might have on its use. I saw one listed elsewhere a couple weeks back and am wondering if it would be a good addition to my rifle or not. I like the idea that it retains the clip in the receiver to avoid loss in dense brush etc., but I'm a bit unclear if the bolt can be held rearward on a partially empty clip to allow for "topping it off".
My Garand is a shorty .308 Tanker version, so I have no concerns of not being "service rifle match legal". I'm trying to set this rifle up as a worthy defence weapon. Here in California, the options for a good SHTF battery are a bit more limited.
Would I be better off trying to turn up a white line tritium front sight and a larger rear aperture or to keep the NM sights that are on it given my intended purpose? I like the low light advantage that illuminated sights hold on close range targets. I can't see regularly making shots longer than 200yds; heck, most would probably be under 100yds.
I'm considering adding a Smith compensator / muzzle brake to it as well. The video they show of it on an M1-A is pretty impressive.
Thanks!
Hank
