Hello all,
I'm thinking about making a 1st time order for some .45 LC (255 gn SWC) .45 acp (250 gn RNFP) and .44 Mag (240 gn. SWC) cast bullets from GARDNERS CACHE'.

These will be loaded for S&W, N frame revolvers.
Mod 25, 6" , and Mod. 29, 8 3/8" barrels. and a 1911.

Does anyone have any experiance with GARDNERS CACHE' cast bullets in these calibers regarding; Quality, Accuracy, leading, etc. they wish to share?

Thanks for any & all info, ...good, bad or otherwise.

Looks like they may have some confusion as to bullet weight. The same bullet says it's both 240gr and 245gr.

What size are the chamber throats on your 29? I have 3 model 29s and all three of them have chamber throats measuring .432.
If I were to shoot those bullets from Gardners Cache which are sized to .429 I would lead my guns terribly and make me use all kinds of bad words loudly.

I stick to Dardas or Penn bullets for all my cast bullets.

Never ordered from Penn's,.. but they do look to have nice offerings.
Who is Dardas?

My ruger has the .432 misfortune and i would highly recomend Penn Bullets. Robert does an excellant job of finding out what you really want to use it for and matching up his skills with your needs. I had a lot of issues with my pistola ( bought it used ) And he cured the problems by helping me to match the right size bullets to the gun. Now i have a good shooting gun with no leading issues or gas checks. Trail boss,H110 and Bluedot are the powders i use.

How about .45 LC or .45 ACP ?
Gardner's seems to have the best prices at this time on large caliber cast lead bullets.
I'd like to try some of them, ..but would like to hear from others who have been shooting their products.

Can't help you as I always shoot my own but how many you thinking of ordering? If you only get 500 of each that's not many bullets to shoot, even if they are bad bullets. You get some trigger time & if they lead buy a chore boy pad & the lead will be going in only a few strokes.

Hi TooManyToys,

In reply to LAH's post that 'even if they are bad bullets' ..... I am sure that I can also speak for Bob (Penn Bullets) when I say that either Penn or Dardas will make sure that you have the correct sized bullets for your firearm.

Hey fellow caster, I know Bob & you have nice bullets. I was speaking of GARDNERS CACHE'. And what I meant was if those bullets didn't work for him it would only be a 500-1000 bullets which would be gone in a couple weeks anyway.

When I purchased machine cast bullets for myself not all were good for various reasons of which not all were the fault of the caster. Still I didn't throw them away or remelt. I shot them up. Lead removal is a simple task unless you have a rough or pitted bore.

Hope I'm clear here? Not knocking anybodys product.

Hey LAH, I understood what you were saying! ... no foul comitted.
...and Matt, I did get a chance to check out your site, looks like you have nice quality products well worth trying.
(and nice of you to defend your compeditor Bob too.)

In this case, I was just wanting to try something different and see if anyone on this site and any experiance with Gardners large bore bullets.
